I opened my the freezer on fridge. Instead of coming on it started hissing like a leaky balloon, tire or something. Is that the compressor motor not coming on? I ran to the store bought ice and dry ice. When I got back it had finally come on. I would like to know what parts to price to see if I can fix it or if I should just get a new one.

My truck's engine just started knocking and I was going to open the engine up today to see how bad it is When it rains...

Does the fridge hav an ice maker?
Is the knocking a valve knock or a wrist pin/crank bearing knock?

The hissing may have been the defrost heaters melting ice.

Oh yea dub, it could be a dry knock from an injector not opening or opening at wrong time. It could also be a labor knock if its doing it during acceleration which could be bad timing or injector not firing at all. You will get a knock even when not under a load, it just wont be as loud

Oh did not think about the injectors. It sounds almost like a colapsed lifter. I sounds like it is in the front of the engine closer to the top. I thought I would start with the head. How to I check to see if it an injector? Just buy a new one and swap them out?

If its diesel I believe if the injectors are bad, it will blow out white smoke instead of black. I could be wrong I'll ask my pops

White smoke is signs of air leakage into the cylinder. With 5 good injectors, it wont produce enuf white smoke to see. What yr model is it? Before 03, it should individual lines goin to ea injector, u can loosen off on ea injector line till u dont hear a diff in eng sound, ie: labor knocking or more rough ideling. If u cone across an injector line that doesnt make it sound or idel diff, thats ur bad injector. Its called a cylinder cut out test. Pull that injector n have them test it, it should hav between 16,000-20,000psi for normal operation. To little psi n its not opening, to much n its blowing to much fuel.

White smoke can also indicate raw fuel passing into the exhaust, black smoke is partially burned fuel. Try the cut out test like Charles mentioned.

Yeah it is an 01. I was thinking while I was just driving and thought about just pulling a line off one at a time. About how much do shops charge to test an injector? Now I have to find my nearest diesel shop.

I am guessing I was hearing the timer or something on the fridge. It is not that new. I have my hig cooler with ice and the drink cooler with dry ice right next to it just in case. If it is still working in the morning I will get my boys and we will play with the dry ice Grin I like carbonating KoolAid and making fog. I am still just a kid when it comes to stuff like that.

If u know thinks its a bad injector, do a cut out test n when u find that injector, pull it out n hav the bench test it, but if that 1 has failed, you may hav more fail aftr u change that 1 out n it could cause that new 1 to prematurely fail bc its workn overtime to keep up
