Ok we think we are going to drop down south and make a loop back to uncle earls so needing some more ideas on south Louisiana would like to see some things I aint seen before.  Also what are the concealed carry laws there.  Should have my chl by then.  If not what is the laws.  Tried looking but didn't find nothing for out of staters. Would like to see a durn alligator idk why but I do for some reason lol.  Is it worth going over the bridge north of new orleans?

Gators should be coming back out around late feb early march. If anyone here can give your fam a tour of lake verret you would love it. Verret and Henderson are some of the purdiest swamps around. Verret is mostly old cypress swamp and holds a lot of wildlife. Hogs, deer, beavers, nutria, gators and quite a few eagles too. Google lake Verett and look at the images

FYI you won't miss much if you don't go to New Orleans or Baton Rouge.

Louisiana is like most states in that you aint gonna see nothing unless you get off the interstates and travel the back roads. Some folks like the New Orleans thing but personally I think it's a waste of good time. The "Bayou Country" of south La. is a very scenic place. If you can get someone to take you out in a boat and see the bayous and lakes up close and personal you will be in for a real treat. It's a one of a kind landscape. We enjoy showing others who are interested around the wetlands. I work a 7 & 7 schedule. If I'm off at the time I'll be glad to take you and friend or two for a private swamp tour.

I live a few miles from Morgan City. I am minutes from the Atchafalaya Basin, Lake Verrett, and millions of acres of cypress tupelo swamp.

It will be just me and the wife and yes we want to be on the back roads for sure. My wife and I were just sitting here brainstorming and figure why not just make a loop and try and see some country.  Don't really plan on hitting any citys other than Shreveport win back the money we blow lol.

I am northeast of Baton Rouge. Only thing to see by me ( livingston parish) is the new Bass Pro Shop lol. A whole lot of nothing this way.

Chicot state park is a nice place to rent a cabin for the night. Lake Chicot ( pronounced Chico) is a cypress lake with cabins over looking the lake. Boat/canoe rentals, fishing and hiking. Located in north Ville Platte 100 miles south of Winnfield (uncle earls)

If your into boats, ships and such, you can't beat Port Fourchon. I loved taking Maurice down there when he was still on the HOS Mystique. That toll bridge is bad ass. WAY up high and like 5 miles long.

Right off I 10  around Lafayette is Breaux Bridge. Neat little town with antique shops, restaurants etc. Then just down the road a bit is Avery island. Where they make Tabasco sauce. They give plant tours and also swamp tours.  You will see the landscape change drastically between south La. And winnfield.

you might check the internet and see if you can find some crawfish festivals or something like that in the small towns close to Earls...

There is something special about south of I-10. I used to drive from Austin to Grand Isle etc. for work with Transocean and there is something about that place that will make a man want to just pull the truck over, get out, and never be heard from again.

I work 7&7 and I am working that week otherwise I would give y'all a personal tour of the most beautiful bayou and swamps there is. If you
are interested I'll try and come up with a few suggestions of things and places to see by car that will make it worth your while. Is it just
you and the wife? I get off work at 3 pm so there's still enough daylight for a good personalized tour. I live in the Morgan City / Houma area,  gateway to the Atchafalaya Basin.
