When I had my appendix removed last month they noticed that there was something on my right kidney on the cat scans. They had me do more in depth cat scans 2 weeks later and discovered a baseball size tumor on my right kidney. I have my first appointment at MD Anderson Monday morning. They have already said that they will have to remove at least half of the kidney if not the whole kidney due to the size of the tumor and the possibility that it could burst and I could bleed to death internally. They will not know if it is a cancerous tumor until they remove it. Hopefully it is not but God's will is God's will and if it is then hopefully he can use it to serve him. I was wondering if anybody on here has had a kidney removed and how long it took to recover and go back to work. I'm only 36 and still in pretty good shape and that should help. The medical field has come along way and maybe it will not be too bad. Thank you to everyone in advance.

My wife had one remove several years ago and it took about for her to heal up enough to go back to work. She works as a dog groomer.

  Lance,
The same thing happened to a very good friend of mine. I don't remember the exact time frame, but it sure seemed fast on his recovery. The doctor were trying to save the kidney, but were unable to. Your 36, he is in his early 60's. Our prayers go out to you and your family.

Lance, i hope that it was just a blip on the scan. If the scan was true, i hope for a full and speedy recovery. I hate to hear your having medical issues. I truely hope u get better.
