Been practicing with my son, letting him shoot his .22 on bench rest kneeling and free standing. We practiced some last summer and the summer before. He turned 8 this past Saturday so I decided to take him on an outing to my grandpas tues and wed.
We left out in the morning and checked the hog trap on the way. No catch. Then we stopped in McComb to get his first war suit

Made it to my grandpas around 11:00 am and decided to fish till evening. I tied a small spinner on and figured it would keep him busy until he tangled it up some how. He walked back 5 mins later and told me a big fish took my spinner. It was the last spinner I had so I through a craw dad w/ chartreuse tail on and I continued to fish and let him get tangled again. He went to the same spot and pulled out a 2 lber, on a little bitty zebco and 5lb test.

We kept fishing and by 1:00 we had a nice stringer. 7 fish 15lbs

Went squirrel hunting that evening but the over cast and a late evening start gave him trouble shooting at the only squirrel we saw.
A good nights rest and we were back at it. It was hard to calm his nerve when he saw the first one. A well placed shot and it was down. It was then hard to calm my nerve. He gave me a high five and a hug and told me thanks and it was the best day he has ever had. These moments you know you are doing things right.
