I drive a truck for a living. wondering if its legal to carry a gun in a semi truck in the state of Texas?? I have a CHL. sure hate being out on the road without a firearm.

It is legal on a road trip. A CHL you need to check which state but I think there is reciprocity with most if not all other states that have CHL. But I always carry a gun when traveling and I don't have a CHL.

Just don't get caught.  I've been told that the TX law has a loop hole in it that states a gun used for hunting is legal to carry in a vehicle without needing a CHL. So with that being said, my .9mm that lives beside my driver's seat is for in case I get charged by a boar hog while I'm in the woods. :p |

I dont think they would believe I was out hunting in my peterbilt truckin down the hiway. alltho i do take my old bulldog with me shes good for anti theft

CHL or not it is not legal to carry a gun in a semi in the state of texas. Alot of us still do, it's a very small one that you can put in you hand or pocket , and no one will know you have it.

I live in Oklahoma just a stones throw from red river so it was brought up in our cocealed carry class. Our instructor told us Texas does honor an Oklahoma license. I've been told that they don't honor the new open carry law we have though. This might all be different now, been a couple years since I've looked at the laws for texas.

Just don't get caught in my opinion because it is in the ammendments that we can bear arms so I'm gonna carry one no matter what the law says

My dad always carried one before it was legal. He said the only way anybody would know he had it was if he used it. Then at least he would be alive to get in trouble. I am not a law bender but when it comes my safety and my family's safety I don't care what anybody says I will keep my family safe and that includes making sure I get home to take care of them.

Last week I had to haul a load of pipe down to laredo Tx and had to spend the night there . not the best place to be without a gun. probly gonna hide one from now on. I just cant see having no protection out on the road.

DON'T TAKE ONE TO ny or Ill.when I was driving a truck in Ca I seen lot of Texas trucks with a 30-30 on the left side of the door.lever action.
