Before I send all my collars in I am wanting some input on what to do. I have 6 dc40 collars, all of which don't work very well. At times they will completly stop tracking and not pick back up again until I turn the collar off and back on again. I've tried buying new antennas for them all, also tried all updates on them and my handheld. With that being said. I was told I could send them into garmin and for 50 bucks they'll send me a refurbished collar. Could anyone tell me if there is any truth to that. Any input would be appreciated.

Those things are cool lil toys as long as your dogs don't hunt  too deep, I've done all the trouble shooting, sanded the antenna connetion point, put long range on handheld and the collars and they still won't do more than a mile most days.

I'm gonna have to get a wildlife unit as insurance.

My warranty is out on my. Has anybody had any experience with the double u dc40 collar upgrade as halfbreed posted? That seems like the route I am gonna take but would like to hear some input on them first.

Check the antenna connection. Best thing I've done was to disconnect the battery for 20 mins or so. Reconnect and clean/ tighten antanna connection.

I'm almost positive it needs to be thirty minutes. You take the housing completely apart, disconnect the larger of the two white snap connecters then wait a full thirty minutes and put it all back together and charge it for a full 12 hours from what I was told and then it's a good idea to reset your handheld and add all collars back. They are in theory supposed to work like new again. After this.

Reset the handheld (220) by pushing enter map and power all at the same time i think.

Have u updated ur software ?  They recommend that before u do anything. I had a similar problem 2 years ago and it ended up being my receiver.

I was having issues with one of mine. And someone told me to run the battery completely down then charge it back it up. I tried it and it works fine now. May be coincidence idk
