I reckon you can call me the cynical type... Sad Cheesy

here is one meaning of said word.

cyn·i·cal (sn-kl)
adj.
1. Believing or showing the belief that people are motivated chiefly by base or selfish concerns; skeptical of the motives of others

I believe that to be successful in all aspects of life one must first decide what the ultimate goal is...it must be clear...but as we move toward that goal, sometimes the road map on how to get there changes...and it should when we find a better way...The goal shouldn't change but can be improved upon or tweaked...
I also believe that we have to look at all the negatives and deal with them so that we can have a positive outcome...so we have to have a certain amount of pessimism in our behavior even if we are of the optimistic type...just a well "BALANCE" of both...I capitalized balance because it is key when we are talking about Mother Nature...

Years ago I used to believe that our enemy was going to be OVER POPULATION...then one day I thought I saw the light and said that I was wrong about population because it was TECHNOLOGY that was going to get us...then one day I realized that I was wrong about that too... Huh? I realized that over population and technoloy are only symptoms and not the root cause...

The root cause is GREED...we want growth so we encourage population growth...it is good for the stock market just to name one reason...

Technology enables use to have higher populations...if the world population were 25% to 33% of what it is today and we maintained it there we would be way better off...We could be proactive and we could offer incentives on birth control and not wait until things get so bad that we have world wars because the earth is out of balance and people are so hungry they resort to war and cannibalism etc...etc...

I see the balance of nature way out of balance and mother nature will pull us back in and droughts and floods are cleansing mechanism...and just a few degrees difference will create extinction for many plants and animals which will create a domino effect, not to mention that those few degrees difference will create bigger storms, bigger earth quakes, bigger tidal waves...the list goes on and on... Sad

If we survive as a species it will be a miracle...and if we do, it will be survival of the fittest and there won't be many of us left...

I see us here on earth like a huge run away train headed to a drop off that will surely kill us all...We cut the power off and slam the breaks but because it is so huge and it took a lot of energy to get us moving that fast...that shutting down the power and slamming on the breaks will be too little too late in this late in the game...

a thousand years is like a micro-second when we talk about time...that we know of there is no beginning and no end to time...because we don't know when we should be moving towards living in harmony with mother nature...

Some say it is a natural global warming phenomenon that is happening...I am one that believes that regardless of who is right is besides the point...We are brilliant when we compare ourselves to the rest of the mammals...yet we are the ones who are pooping on mother nature at this time...we can not beat mother nature so we need to play by her rules...

For being so brilliant I see us as being just like the coyote, lion, or bear...we can multiply until we are out of balance and then famine and disease will get us back to the BALANCE...that is if technology didn't take us too far...

Albert Einstein once said that he didn't know what technology was going to be used in the next major world war...but he said that the one following was going to be fought with sticks and stones...need I say more Lips Sealed

This might sound far fetched and it might take 1000 years to pass...but at some point, all...including the nay sayers will be on the wagon...

I think I would be a happier person if I didn't think like this... Grin

I tend to think along the same lines, whether it's natural or manmade this weather is gettin more violent and unstable. We had 2  500 yr. floods in back to back years out here awhile back. Mother nature is gonna thin em out one way or another and all the technology  won't save ya.

There was something similar to this back in the late teens here in american. It was called eugenics and was ran by the government, sanctioned by the churches but ended in the late 20s and was restarted in the early 70s but on a much smaller scale. It was also done in the 30s-40s in europe by a man who some would claim to be insane but saw a different picture of the world.
The world sure could use another cleansing, starting in washington dc

The world's resources are finite.  Population growth will overwhelm it at some point.  When that happens, fights (wars) over limited resourses will occur.  I it basic math.

I really like documentaries and I just finished watching "The Dust Bowl" documentary on channel 8.  If you haven't seen, watch it, if you've watched it, watch it again.  They state in there that the Ogalala aquifer will be dry in 20-30 years.  You want to talk about chit getting real!  The entire heart of the country with no water for farming or for people to live on.  Water is and will continue to be a huge resource that we are going to have to "engineer" in the coming years.

I agree...we are taking water out of the water tables faster than they can replenish themselves...once everyone is on the wagon it will almost be too late in the game...

Broadcasting the seeds now and hoping that they take and multiply...
