Just wanted to share with all yall my line of all out catch cur dogs they are bred to just straight up hang on the hog they just lock up and hold on. A big bad boar wont go very far with these boys on their ears. They do get cut up alot but if they go get a bigun while therye doin it its all worth it. I love the way they hunt they will leave out for 15-30mins and will wind a hog real good and run a hot track they have a real good handle and are very very well mannered.
Heres a picture of my favorite and probly my best dog Duke he is about 4 1/2 years old and has been on countless hogs and has been cut down countless times.
Heres a picture of Tuff he is Dukes little brother same cross just younger litter. He is about 3 years old and has also been on alot of big bad hogs.

Here is a picture of Bobby who is Dukes daughter she has bout 1 1/2 years old and has found her own pigs.

I'm sorry, but this statement is exactly why our sport will be taken away from us?!?!?!?!!
I realize i'm stirring the kettle here, but it is NOT all worth it to get your dogs cut up ALOT just to catch a big boar.
You might as well say you have no respect for your dogs' well being if you make the above statement.
And you might as well hand your dogs over to the anti's if this is your normal practice in hog hunting.
I could care less if this is your style of hunting, so be it, but don't post this statement on a public forum please.
You are going to cause tremendous grief for the hunters who care a little more about their dogs having a good, long life, hunting hogs than catching that 'bigun'

Maver!ck

PS - i don't plan on getting into a long debate on this topic, i said what i said, i meant what i said.

I'm sry, but my catch dog is vested/collared, it's a sow with no cutters and took couple pics and had the bulldog off the hog in less than a couple minutes which is a far cry from a running catch dog that you don't get to help out on who knows what kind of hog with big or small cutters, for up to 1/2 hour or more if you can't even find your dogs caught?  We run in behind our catchdogs and leg hogs and take control of the situation.  Not let the dogs and hogs 'work it out' by getting one the other or both killed before you can even get to the catch?Huh?

Sorry, but that was a bad comeback...

Its alrite maverick i understand what you mean. I didnt mean to say that i like it when my dogs get cut up just to catch a big hog im just saying that having these kind of dogs you expect for them to get cut up its just the way of the sport.I dont want to say that this is a grousum sport but it aint no walk in the park and you know that. The way i meant for it to be said is its all worth it to them. Dont get me wrong i love my dogs more than anything.

Hey Michael,

No hard feeling here either, like mentioned above, i just hate for someone to think that getting your dogs cut is fine as long as you catch hogs.  I completely understand that it happens to most everyone at some point.  I like to think that i'm in control of most our situtations, but i'm not a fool, there are times that control is in the hands of the more dominant being in the bay/catch and that sometimes means a big ole nasty boar.  So dogs can get hurt, hogs can, and people too.  I don't think you are malicious or a 'bad hunter' i know most people on here really care for their dogs and don't want them hurt.  If you hunt your style, you will tend to doctor more dogs, but it's just a style that you prefer.  I can deal with that.

You do have some good looking dogs though, had a couple that looked very similar.  And you can also tell you do take care of them  Wink

Good luck with them!

I know whatcha mean maverick we have to keep the sport looking clean to keep it going. It just seems every big nasty boar they get on they are out of commision for a few weeks and i cant help that. I do do my best to get to them as fast as i possible. The reason i do like this style is that the hogs do not run very far after you get on them. But every hog hunter is different and everyone has their own opinions and i understand. I will be more carefull next time on the way i word things.
Thanks

RIGHT OR WRONG?  ALL IAM SAYING IS BEFORE SOMEONES START CASTING STONES MAKES SURE YOUR STUFF IS STRAIGHT. NO ONE CAN PLEASE EVERYBODY IN THIS WORLD WE JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH THAT. WASNT TRYING TO MAKE ANYONE MAD IT JUST DIDNT MAKE SENSE TO ME. I HAVE TALKED TO MAVERICK AND WE BOTH HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING ABOUT THE WAY WE FEEL AND NO HARD FEELINGS GOING ON HERE

I see what you're saying, but a pic of a dog caught hog, where everything is under control has nothing to do with cut up dogs?

I'm all for posting hunting pics, that's what this site was created for... sharing stories, pictures and information.

Cut up dogs pics and always talking about dogs getting cut and injured are the things that need to be left out.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%. MAYBE YOU SHOULD MAKE IT A RULE THAT IF A DOG GETS HURT TO MAKE SURE TO LEAVE THAT PART OUT OF THE STORY. THEN AT THAT POINT THERE IS NO "GRAY" AREA WHERE MAYBE THIS COULD OR COULDNT PISS SOMEONE OFF. I UNDERSTAND THAT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A POINT IN THERE MIND WHERE THEY SAY OK THAT IS A LITTLE MUCH.  AND YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO BABY SIT BUT ...............

Nosights..

The only rule needed, is to use some common sense.  Sure there are plenty of gray areas, but if it goes over the line, members are pretty good about reporting it, and one of the mods will clean up the thread. The reality of hog hunting, is that humans, dogs, and hogs can get hurt. No need to sugarcoat things, but no need to dwell on the negative either.
