Was just needing some advise. The last week I've had 6 pups catch parvo and pass away. They ranged from 3 months old to almost 2 years. They all had 2 sets of shots and some 3. After they got sick we hydrated the best we could. What can you do?

Parvo is hard to get rid of. I suggest you vaccinate all your older dogs and build an off the ground brood pen for bitches with pups. Put the female in the pen several weeks before she's due and leave the pups in there till the pups have had their 3rd vaccination. Take the mother out after the pups are weened.

What is corona
Even the veterinarians have trouble telling the difference between parvo and corona because they are so similar... Quite a few people vaccinate for parvo and not for corona and this makes the vet a lot of money...the 7 in 1 vaccine is about half the price compared to the 7 in 1 plus corona which is quite a bit more...instead of calling it the 7 in 1 plus corona that vaccine should be called 8 in 1...either way folks think they are getting a good deal with the 7 in 1 and they are just signing the death warrant on the pups... It is hard for me to see that most everyone on here talks about parvo and never about corona...go to any tractor supply and all they sell is the 7 in 1...the 7 in 1 is just a setup for failure... The pups I raise only get 1 or 2 vaccines and that is it...but all I give is the 8 in 1 one time and that is the same one folks use as a yearly booster but even the yearly booster is not required...I give the booster every 3 or 4 years whether the dog needs it or not... I run a stream lined and efficient preventative maint. program on all my dogs...veterinarians would go out of business if they depended on my business... but I reckon someone needs to buy the cheap vaccines because when the pups get corona and the vet calls it parvo and 3 to 5 hundred dollars later your pup might or might not live...and that makes the vet enough money to make the house payment... I am sorry to have to get on the soap box but...all I want to do is to save someone some heartache...like I have said before, I have never lost a pup to parvo or corona since the 1980's... BBBB Hoggers...sorry about your pups and I hope they will make it...keep the pups warm and keep them by you...force feed them some chopped raw liver and force feed them gatorade or pedialyte...lot's of folks on here have done it with different methods but this has worked for me back then...

Good post Reuben. My father was a practicing Veterinarian for 45 years and told me exactly the same thing. I follow his protocols and have had very little trouble over the years. All of my pups get at least 3 rounds of 8 in 1 vaccine w/corona.
I start to wean pups at about 6 weeks, holding the pups off their mother just over night. That's when they get the first vaccine.
By 9 weeks they are just nursing once a day and get the second vaccine.
AT 12 weeks the female should be dried up and they get the third vaccine.
Any worries or if it a special litter and they get another.
I only use 8 in 1 and I order it in bulk from one of the vet supply company's it is drop shipped to me on ice. I never buy vaccine from any of the farm stores because its to easy for it to be miss handled and they rarely carry the 8 in 1.

Back when Parvo first came out we had no ideal what it was it took thousands of pups and young dogs out. Then the Vaccines came out and if you dont get enuff in them they will still catch it and die . Two three is really not enuff to keep you safe safe from it .
What I have found is this . I give a total of four to five shots . One at five six weeks when the pups are still on the momma. Then this is the key most those shots will prortect up to 28 days something like that. So from the first shot on I give the shot every 22 to 25 days till a total of four to five shots . I have never lost another pup! If the shot protects for 28 days and you give the shot at 30 days that is two days of unproctected Parvo can get in the system and then it takes a while to come out. Also if the shots are weak from being hot and not full effect and suppose to be good for 28 days but is really only good for 22 days because of getting hot or something and you give it at 28 that leave you with 6 days of being vulnarable and it can get in those days.
Also why I give it still on the momma because it takes I think 7 to 9 days for the first shot to take effect in the pup to start building up real resistents . So its best to give it to them a week before you take them off the momma. I found it takes atleast four are five shots given this way no more than 28 days apart to have a young dog have enuff resistents to fight it off on its way to being a young adult.
Once I started doing this never lost another pup never had it again. Be sure you get that shot that includes Crona .
This is from first hand experinces not science in a book are coming from a vet .

They try to tell you to give this vac at this age and that one when he is that age and so on...8 in 1 at 8 weeks and maybe another one of the same at 12 wks...that is about it for me...but like Paul has said...need to buy from a place that keeps those vacs refrigerated...

Yep! I have a new pup that got sick somewhere between the breeder, the hauler, and my house. As I was leaving for work the pup got worse and almost died. I had to pay a retired friend to transport it back and forth to the Vet and keep up Antibiotics, force feeding, and IV for almost a week. The 2 Veterinarians that I use, now strongly suspect mishandled "farm/tractor" store vaccines are at fault.
This has cost me $900 and counting over the last 2 weeks.
Theres a difference between saving money and cutting corners!

maybe it was faulty but the tractor supply only carries the 7 in 1 and that does not have the corona vaccine in it...

I'm not going to tell you this is the right way or the wrong way but the way I've done for many years and not had a sick pup. Three weeks after the female is bred I give them a vaccination from Fort Dodge, a 9 way, which is plus Limes disease. I don't vaccinate the pups untill they have been weaned at least a week, two is better. This will prevent the antibodies the pups recieve from their mother from interfearing with the shot and getting full imunity. They get another puppy shot 4 to 6 weeks later, also Fort Dodge. The next one is their 9 way plus Rabies after they are 4 months old. My Vet. gives a little Panacur along with the other standard treatments and has a high success rate on cures.

I went to the vet, had them put in an I.V. pick line in the older dogs/injected under skin with the smaller ones...then bought a chitpile of saline... as long as you keep them hydrated like this, they seem to come through fine. Too much fluid can kill them just as quick however, so be careful.

We have saved some pups by giving them tamiflu and fluids. Fluids alone haven't worked for us. I also have seen a guy mix 1ml of bleach with 2mls of water and shoot it straight down their throat. It worked but i haven't done it on any of my pups personally. Corrid for chickens and other farm animals seems to have a positive effect against parvo also. If someone could figure out the cure from a scientific standpoint they would be rich! personally I think vets don't want to cure it, they would loose too much money treating pups. just my two cents.
