I banded one on a Thursday and went hunting on Friday. He wasn't bothered by it.
Just make sure to pull down before setting the band.

Only a few (3-5)days.  The band will fall off on it's own a few days later.  Dog should be back hunting in 2 weeks from the time the band goes on.

Thought about it red79 what I have heared and read its a safe less tramatic way to do it I would be doing it by myself and would hate to get in the middle of it and he decide to pitch a fit.

Leash him to a fence and throw him and tie him off.  I've heard the bands can leave holes that take a while to heal up, if not properly placed.
