High Point - Salamander,  Ronald Hill

Both the one dog and two dog winners should be considered pros now with well over 25 entries in both events.

And as a side note,  the high point dog wins a trophy and an envelope with money in it.
The 20% that boars nest takes of the Calcutta
is awarded to the high point dog.

Is there a pro class and woods/amateur class at Boars Nest?

KevinN, they didnt have a separate amature class and a pro class. Some bayings have the two separate, and the definition of a pro dog is one that has won 1st place with at least 25 or more entries usually!

Understood, but without two classes I guess it don't really matter. Lol

Nope, you just put alot of time and practice with your dogs to be the best to run against anyone.

Kevin,  if you go somewhere that has pro and am classes, they normally consider your dog a pro dog if it has won a class of 25 or  more excluding puppy or old and young classes. Also, the high point at boars nest is a combined score of your 1 dog run and your designated 2 dog run. If you double run your og in the 2 dog and don't designate a high point run, its automatically your first run. With the 20% of the calcutta it makes it a nice bonus.

Thats Understandable just seems that you wouldn't want your first multiple day bay in the same month as the biggest bay of the year. A lot of money to be out paying pen help and buying stuff for the concession stand just to have a small gathering is all I was getting at.

With a nice pen, people are gonna show up. If its a big payout, more people and better dogs are gonna show up. More people and better dogs mean better competition. Sounds like a great warm up for the biggest bay in the world.

All that being said...."Added Money" is a good incentive to insure a large turnout. If you could get a good cash sponsor you've got it made.

I think earls is the third weekend in march. If they wanted to have before earls then heck yeah people will want to work/compete with dogs before then. I've heard lots of good things about this pen and plan to go in jan

Well everything you heard is probably true. They have a really good start and more good things to come from what I heard at the last one.

Pretty good idea might have to do that. It'd sure make it easier to put faces with names
