Buy some Fish Flex. It's fish antibiotics that you can give dogs. Basically cephalexin and works much better than penicillin.

U can normally order fish flex,fish mox (amoxicillin) through revival or lambert vet supply.

I'll agree with cephalaxin being better n penicillin if both are given by mout, but it's hard to beat a course of injected penicillin in muscle

I use pen as a preventive but if they have an infection I use baytril it works good.

I always stick dogs with pen after a rough hunt 3 days in a row ...works great

Baytril for cattle. 1cc under the skin for 5 days. Same stuff as the pills the vet will give you for a dog, but about a tenth the price. Still a little more costly than pen but dang sure will kick the infection.

The only thing with Baytril is u have to be careful if u give it to pups. It has been known to cause joint problems when used in pups.

Buy a MERCK veterinary manual. It'll give you the correct dosages for each oral antibiotic and which organisms each antibiotic covers.

haveing a merk vet manual is just good buissness sense lol , got my first one in 1972 . now you can look up things from the merck manual on-line when in doubt on something . i was thinking about getting a new one mine is outdated as of now but i will go on-line and see just how much has changed before i do lol

Halfbreed is right on! The manual is on line and if you allways have internet,,you are good. I just like to have a book in my hands. Halfbreed, i was working at a vet's office in 72, probably my first exposure to the merck manual too
