Title says it all. Just curious what constitutes a big boar. The majority of the hunting I do is summer time. Here hogs are bigger during winter due to the added corn and bran being fed. Cutters are cutters and an inch is an inch I'm interested in pounds.

A true 300 lb hog is a war horse.  Not the 145 lb that is typically pictured 40 yards in front of the hunter and his dog.  Hehe Shocked

Around my house i consider a big boar to be around 250 bc i dont catch many that big. But catch quite few around 200. A 200lb boar is a good solid hog around here

Me personally , I like a hog that puts up a good fight and doesnt make a sound when the bulldogs are caught no matter its weight, but 200 + is a good hog

Around where I hunt we don't get big cutters like some I see on here. 2.5" is usually some good cutters. On average a decent boar is 200. I have got 3 in July and august that went over 275. To me those were good hogs. I wanted to see how the hogs I hunt compared in size to those in other areas.

I'm just curious if you Barr a boar hog say over 200 lbs will the meat still have a chance to be good?

200 is a good hog, 250 is really big, and 300 and up is "holy crap this is gonna get western!" I've only ever caught one over 300.

Preach brother PREACH! A true 300lb boar is a STUD. I consider anything over 200 to be a good boar personally. (and i mean a real 200lb, not internet 200lb.......there is a big difference)  Grin

200 and up is a big boar...back in the 1990's I worked with this engineer that graduated at the top of his class and he loved to hunt every chance he could...he swore up and down that there were no 200 pound hogs because all he ever saw or shot were less than 150 and he said the average big hog probably weighed 125 pounds...he sure didn't believe me when I told him we caught a 200 pound boar about once a week back then...

but a real big boar is between 300 and 350...

I'd like to see the hog that weighed 478. Do you have a picture of this hog, was he a Barr or boar?
