I really would like to be... I'll chew on one lol... just haven't learned how to appreciate a lit one yet  ... same with Scotch... ... both of which it always seems people ask me to partake in... usually in "delicate" situations if you know what I mean lol... ... wish I could pay somebody to teach me how to like both of them.... good thing to know how to appreciate in the business world |

Jerry, I didn't see you as a scotch man.. Is that stuff drinkable? I tend to like my whiskey but never have given scotch a try. So would you give McAllen 5 star for a first timer? |

I'm with ya Lacy. I really enjoy my cigars. I've got a pretty good stash myself. As far as the drinking goes, I prefer a good Brandy when I burn one.

Jerry, I didn't see you as a scotch man.. Is that stuff drinkable? I tend to like my whiskey but never have given scotch a try. So would you give McAllen 5 star for a first timer? It's not bad. If it's your first time with scotch, get Glen Moray, put 2 ounces in a small tumbler ( or a mason jar if your like me ) and fill the rest with ice. Let it mellow and sip it slow, by your third or fourth glass you'll be acclaimated and be able to skip the ice. It's not a "drinking" drink, its a smooth, sitting back, smoking a pipe (or cigar) and relaxing drink. It should take you ten minutes to sip thru your first few then who knows? Sometimes I'll sit on the porch, smoke a pipe and nurse three or four ounces of scotch for An hour or better. Drinking scotch is not a contest, just relax and enjoy. |

I've never smoked an even remotely expensive cigar but I've puffed a few of the acid cigars they sell in liquor stores and I like em pretty good. Took me a while to figure out you puff it not inhale a whole cloud of it.

My great granddaddy used to smoke a pipe when I was real little, he learned it from his father, who was a commercial whaler... I rember my great grandfather telling me stories of the man, always kept a shaved head with a gold hoop in each ear. He was a big, strong man that was known as a "notorious" peacemaker in that, he was quick to "intervene" lol... in any fight. Wish I could have met that man very much. My great grandfather himself, was a mechanic that built custom engines for bootleggers during prohibition... I remember him giving me chewing tobacco in his shop when I was 4 or 5 lol... (sorry for the novel... you just triggered a very old memory thankfully) ... nothin' like the smell of good pipe tobacco... may have to get me some in the near future |

I've smoked a pipe on occasion,...I rather enjoy it but not as much as a cigar. I have finally had a chance to smoke a fine, somewhat expensive cigar and I must say that I was a little more than disappointed,.....it fell waaaaaay short of what I was expecting. I mean, I was under the impression that these high priced....as in $10 dollar or more, cigars would be so good that it would be a task just to keep from eating the thing whole.....lol. That was NOT the case,....so as for now, I'll take a Swisher Sweet or a Mississippi Crook (which I can't seem to find anymore) over a high priced one anytime.

Several old men congregated there and all puffed away on there pipes. The smell of good spicy beef jerky, aging cuts of steak and vanilla pipe smoke still invade my imagination from time to time. |
