I started around the middle of last year. My dad & cousins have been doin it for years. One day I decided I wanted to go with em now I'm hooked for life. They all work shift work & go during the week so I don't get to go as much as I'd like but when I do have the opportunity I'm there.

I am new and had to restart. But so far so good. You can check my posts to see my prospects. I have 2 young dogs that are doing good. I am lucky enough to have a few friends with good dogs to hunt with. Here are my pups.

I'm still looking for the right dog to get me started, I have a couple leases I have permission to hunt here in South,LA but they are not big. The largest being 3,000 acres with most of them about 1200. My bulldog is catching good but I need a SHORT range find dog and probably 2 RCD to keep the hogs from running. Just don't have enough property to chase them for two miles ya know.

I started about 2 1/2 years ago I have a decent set of dog. A good pit catch dog and a bmc gyp that is doin good has found me a few hogs,  and a cat gyp that was my first dog and she is a baying fool and has found me a few hogs, and a bmc male pup around 10 months. I hunt every chance I get but land is hard to come by down here by me.

Started going with others 6 years ago. Started getting my own dogs last year because when its hot and dry its hard to get folks to run on the farm to keep the hogs out the fields. Bought one RCD then found 2 throw away dogs and started working with them. They aren't jam up but will find one and put it on the ground from time to time. There is potential.

I just started May 2012....hot times then, so I got conditioned to go late at night while cooled down. This has been my first winter, and I must say I had to swim when it was 40 degrees at 3 in the mornin(not fun, plus it was a pond that was about 10 ft deep and 30-40 yds wide) I learned then while watching from the other side of the pond with the spotlight how every minute counts. The 225lb boar was slingin our two dogs up off their feet, I was enjoying the show (like I was watchin TV) then looked next to me at my brother takin off his boots (they were his dogs gettin pounded)......then I realized this aint no edited TV show. I honestly almost drowned! Plus I understand- now that I have my own dogs - what a guy will do to help his dogs.
Here he is halfway in the pond still.

This is me trying to keep him from sliding back in the pond, COLD and WET! (pictures do no justice)

Also, I got for sarters a gyp YBMC (Bella, now 9 mths) that sure is turning out to be a great dog. I'm prob hooked on yella dogs over any other bcuz of her. Also, Machito (now 7 mths, a houndxcatxmt curxpit) that was given to me from a friend. He's doing ok, but the ybmc sure is makin him look bad in a few ways, but he will do. I will be happy if he lives to see 3 due to how rough he is. I think he is gonna make a good strike dog, so far he's got good hunt in him.

Now I need a good catch dog, I learned the hard way when they had a bay on a simple walk in the woods (7:30 pm) in my back yard. It turned out to be a 45 min hunt, by accident (go figure there were hogs 600 yds from my back door). I had no knife, gun, or a good catch dog. If I had a catch dog, I would have caught that sucker! Plus my wife would not answer her phone to bring me my 110 lb "over kill-loudmouth-out of breath" AB....I went to sleep a lil depressed. Now I'm needing to add a good catch dog and I will be a lil more of a hog dogger!
Here is PLAN C...Macho at 5 yrs.

My first hunt was November 2011 went a few times with friends in early 2012 and I picked the heat of the summer this past July and started buying dogs, bought a strike dog,and a few more started dogs, pups etc. and now I am fully hooked and finally catching some hogs with my own pack and having a blast.
