I've never been to a a bay comp. but have a dog I think would do well.  Are the dogs required to be able to be called off the hog?  If not how do you get the dogs out of the pen after a round?

no call off needed. u either grab the dog when u get close or when they let the hog out

That's only at NALC comps.

No sir....there were a few pens in Texas that did it years ago...and...unless I'm mistaken...Uncle Earls did it in the early years.

When i went to a couple bayin comps some of the older guys were using a short whip and would crack it and out the dogs would go. I thought it was required then but that WAS a few years back

Yea back in the day, we use to be able to crack a whip and call the dogs out. Think earls only did it one or two years. No open bays are requiring call outs anymore
