860 in a week is nothing. Ive gone up a few times and averaged 70 hogs/hr. They have been flying for a few years now around me and have probably killed 4-5000 hogs. It makes it a lot tougher running dogs but i understand why the farmers do it

Ar-10 would do the trick. They way burn through twice as much ammo cuttn tree tops n limbs outa the way but its doable, not as effective as in open terrain though.
Bigcutter, YES they do shoot deer from the air at ft campbell bc of its over population.

It's been to my benefit. They shoot the hogs that run. They don't kill the ones that will just lay up and be still. That's perfect because I want the ones that lay up... And don't want the ones that run.  Grin

We had a pack of like 20 #60 last year. I don't want any part of that deal with dogs. The choppers can have all those they want.

I think those guys count dead hogs by how many bullets they have shot.  They prolly shoot 1,000 rounds and tell everyone they killed 1,000 pigs but i would be surprised if they could go find 100 dead hogs the next day.

X2
there is no way they r makin 1 shot 1kill from a movin shooting platform n shootn at a movin target.
During my 2 tours in iraq i would go through 5-20 rounds per engaged target from a helo

if i was a farmer for a living and had a bad hog problem id rather have a heli hunter vs a couple dogs you will never ever kill them all but you can damn sure put a dent in the population out of the bird! we dont have to worry bout helihunters in central texas except a couple months out of the year when there aint no leaves on the trees so i aint to worried about em if it was free and i could go up and shoot some dang right id get up there and have a feild day on some pigs!

Well sounds like yal got yal some real idiots down there if cows were shot! If someone cant tell a cow and a pig apart when your shooting from 60 feet out then they should not be shooting out of a bird!

They must grow hogs big in that part of tx.
I agree, if a person cant tell cow from pig, he should only be givin a cork gun.

well we don't have alot of open land. they say the hog ran in the wood, and they just shot in the wood lines. trying to kill some and hit the cows. to me they are good idiots and bad idiots. to me they are some good ones, but to the owner they are the bad ones. if the helihunters fly over and start killing hog. we will all have to start hunting packs of dogo's. lol ( just a joke). you'll think the hog are running now.

If i was the land owner, i'd file charges on the shooters. They couldnt indentifie their target but shot anyways. If they are (dont sound like they are though) ethical hunters, they would wait till they had a clear id b4 letting loose. I guess if they were in a stand they would shoot first n hope it wasnt a human walking in the woods. Damn city slickers.

Whether you want to believe it or not it does disturb other wildlife when you fly a helicopter down close to the ground to shoot at something and if your flying and not getting close to get an advantage well your probably stupid to start with. Nobody has to shoot a cow to kill it but they dang sure get scared and run into and over fences with helicopter pressure that is not in on them in a herding way. I think the helicopter can be done in a effective way but let's face it hogs are here to stay and what's happening more and more is rich boys want to shoot pigs from helicopters so the pilot has to produce pigs and that leads to crossing boundaries and unnecessary pressure many times.

Does any one else see the irony in a bunch of dog guys calling chopper guys outlaws? They kill what there not suppose to... Cross boundaries... Ruin our hunting.  Cheesy its the circle if life.
