How far is a garmin astro 220 supposed to range out.

i think it all depends on the terrain and folage on the trees and what type pf antennas on the collars and on the garmin and some collars pick up better than others. but i would say about 1 mile with everything factory if conditions aint to terrible.

Hunted with a guy yesterday running a 220 with dc 40. Stubby antenna on unit long range on collar. Was loseing dogs around .75 mile. We were in pine thickets and hardwood bottoms. I have an extendable long range antenna for unit I let him use and picked up dogs over 2mi. In same conditions.

It picked up my dog right at a mile last night, with nothing extra. We were in bottoms and it was thick!

Ok. Mine goes pretty close to a 1000yrds and then it starts to loose comnunication.
