... deer season finally over, we made a hunt yesterday, caught 7 total but just couldn't get a biggun lined out... was a good day for the dogs all the same to get their ass back in shape.

... still in the final stages of moving, I really "needed" ta be responsible LOL on Sunday, and finish moving the rest of our stuff over to the new place... but my old buddy Lee calls me up late Sat night and says his ranch manager just called him up about 2 big hogs that turned over a big field of theirs they just plugged for hay.   Felt bad for the guy, so decided to make a "quick/early" run and get out...  All I brought was Whaler and Bucho.

Kicked Whaler out as we eased around the edge of a thick creek bottom that led up to the field, wasn't long and Whaler rolled off a thousand and bayed up.  Got as close as we could and eased in on foot to about 50yds... could see a tall, black bo hog standing in relatively open pine... Whaler choppin' away... Sent Bucho to him and just as he got there, the hog went to break... Whaler put the brakes on him, but when he did, the boar spun so fast it got him bad bad in the shoulder, tossin' him back about 10'... at the same moment Bucho and the boar hooked up... and it was literally a blur.  Instantly we could hear that Whaler got hurt bad bad... terrible sound.  When I got aholt of a leg, the hog actually kicked me backwards over a palmetto stump... when I hit the ground, I lost grip of all but the tail as he spun to try and hook me...  tail in my right hand, I had my left hand on the cheek of this sumbitch, tryin' to keep him off me till I got back to my feet... at the last second Bucho kicked into low gear and pulled him back off me long enough for me to hop back up and get control of him... this was one natural bad ass strong hog.  Got the hog handled and was focused on assessing how bad Whaler was, moments later as my helper was choking Bucho off the hog, we realized how bad both dogs had got cut... it was bad.  Got em wrapped up/carried to the truck and the hunt for a Sunday emergency vet began...

Vid

Just one sho enuff bad dude.

... called around for almost an hour, FOUR different emergency vets an couldn't get a call back... finally got aholt of one that agreed to meet us half way, only to find out that I had trained several of her horses(and daughters) yrs ago... she jumped right into it with all of our help and 4hrs later, what could be done, was done.  Just a matter of seeing how things heal now.  Been a long damn day.

All that work(on a Sunday no less) and she wouldn't let me give her a dime.  She did ask to go hunt with me though LOL

This boar cut through this UglyDog Devestator vest like a hot knife through butter... crazy...  if he hadn't of had it on though, dog woulda been dead on the spot.  Really makes me happy to know there's still some good people left out there.  Had alot of friends come together to help me through today and I will not forget it.

I reckon it's a good thing that we don't get on more of those type hogs Noah. Glad you found a vet to help you out on the weekend, kinda rare it seems. Hope your boys heal up soon without any complications.

Thanks yall, dogs are moving much better. Vet did a hell of a job putting them back together and it shows, may have to open Bucho back up this wknd for some swelling, not looking forward to it.  I'd say they're both out conservatively for a good mnth, but looks good as for being able to hunt again!

Well that's good news buddy,.....at least for now. Maybe Bucho's swelling will go down before then. Our trip to south AL fell through.....as they so often do. Good luck bud.
