My ultimate Goal is 1/4 Bluetick, 1/4 Pit, 1/4 Cat, 1/4 BMC.

I'm Starting with My UKC Bluetick Gyp, My question is which should i cross first, pit, cat, or bmc?

My thoughts were, blutick x pit ,  and bmc x cat   then cross them? My only worries were crossin the cat and pit would just be rcd's. I'm lookin to get rough bay dogs. I got 2 cutter bay ticks, and they get the job done, but in the long run im wantin to lose the mouth. My cats are off Facahatchee kennels, they hunt hard but close. Got 2 pits Game bred Red nose and big ol blue nose(haven't decided which im gonna breed), and the BMC is red dog from texas(dont know the line but its a fine dog).

Any thoughts? Open to suggestions. Im in South Ga, hunt Mostly Swamps, river bottoms, and flat ponds. Every now an then a field.

Bluetick/Bmc and pit/cat
That's how mine is bred and she is coming on strong. 5 months old almost 6 months and hangs with some good 3 y/o  dogs. Her brother is coming along good too.

I'll get one in the morning. The female pup is hunting out with older dogs already. Their first pig was 175 pound sow I had in my pen. They climbed over their 6 ft kennel to get to my other pups baying. They have the hound look but marked like a blk & tan cat. Their heads are bigger and they are not as clumsy as a hounds.

what's the point in putting two differant cur bloods in the cross when hunting styles are so similar ?  all your winding up with will be 1/2 cur 1/4 hound 1/4 pit   , the two differant breeds of cur is unneccesary imo .

I have been thinking about leaving the BMC out, since its the only breed i dont own. 1/4 Blue 1/4 pit and 1/2 Cat.

Never hunted around Cats much, mine are rough with a hog. And so far dont cast far. BMC's i've hunted around were all loose and casted out 700+yds. I knew both were cur blood, but i didnt think the hunting styles were close enough to matter. All im after is silent, med range, and rough.

I've always been a dumpster dog man, so im ignorant to info about curs, just know the few i've hunted around.

My cur is suicidal rough, and my cat Bays about 6 feet back. My pit has some leg under her and is just extremely obedient, my hound has the range and nose I like. The chances of all  the pups turning out the same is not likely to happen. I wanted to see what would come and I ended  up keeping the more hound like pups.

I would cross your blue tic to ur cat if they are as rough as you say if you do the pit into the cross as a half and half u will probably end up with a lot of suicidal rcd just my opinion. But that would be the first cross I would make would be to the cat

Ewww walker lol.  Grin

I've bout decided 1/4 Blue 1/4 pit 1/2 Cat. I think that cross will work very well for me. My gyp should come in anytime now, until then I still have time to change my mind!!  Wink
