What about when a dog gets injured? Then you will be getting plenty of the wrong attention. Let them
film hunting under natural conditions in the woods. Baying may not seem too harsh to people who bay or hunt, but our opinions tend to favor what we think is the norm.

They used to have bay comps and catch and tie on the Indian reservation down here. Even though it was illegal in Florida they were allowed to do it. But anyways, the anti's got after them and they shut it down to the public.

Anti's in Austin are telling me that they have gained the upper hand and the dog hunters will defete ourselfs.

It's outlawed in FL. all but Uncle Earls in LA.  I have been too and entered a lot of bayings and have never seem one where no dog, at some time, didn't put their mouth on the hog.  Only takes one.  I have had film crews come sign contracts and I have yet to see the film before it came out on TV.

Hope you have looked at everything really close, good luck.

you have no more editorial rights to the footage and whats aired, than u have the right to walk into the austin capital building and say since i pay taxes, this building is now mine. you can edit, view, edit view all you want, and the tv producers and editors can fix it to where it was an OOoooppps, we didnt catch that, and now its to late.

Can we depend on u to make the right choice for all the dog hunters ?

anyone remember etoile'huntington area baying contest? Also had some catch and tie back then and somehow some photos made it in the national enquirer and a few other of them weekly/national magazines...I knew right away what was fixing to happen the first time I heard about it...I stopped going to the contest when they started catch and tie...

baying contest will be next...divide and conquer is how the antis operate...the brick wall comes down one brick at a time...don't look like it will at first... but it will come tumbling down...

I am not trying to be a nay sayer but there is no sense in helping the antis...
If its the same place, that was the first time I had ever seen any dogs on hogs. Had a guy rodeoing over her with us that was from Florida and ran dogs. He heard about it somehow, and we went one weekend. That should have been around 1992 or so. The only thing I can remember was a big ole Greyhound catch dog they had there.

why would you want to put it on national tv anyway? its no way it would help with anything. i remember when they use to have a catch competion around here everyhouse within 100 miles had bulldogs and the people that hunted couldnt find any without having to pay 500$ and when the law shut it down it was free bulldogs everywhere. which is not the point. im just saying i dont see how anything that could help us come from putting it on tv, i think it would be alot better to keep the general public out of it.

I'm sure their lawyers have been down this road a few times.  They will edit it and air it however they want and there won't be a thing to do about it.  Heard y'all had a good bay pen down there.  Sure hope this doesn't ruin it and others as well.  Bad decision if you ask me.

Pride's a Hard thing to turn down, But think about the Sport and the people more than A chance to be on TV. Hope you make the right Decision!  Undecided

Call Mr. Mason, or PM me and Ill send you my #. I know he has done the TV thing, and so have I. And I'd bet we have the same advice... DON'T DO IT!

I got lucky, it was a History Channel show and production was subbed outside of California, to an open minded production crew. The effective portions of my contract were adhered to, and no harm came of it. BUT, I'm telling you from experience... I didn't get the final cut as was contractually stipulated. Even though it turned out fine, the result could have been really bad. Between the producer, editor, editing company, casting company, and every other involved entity, all they did is point fingers at each other for the " contractual oversight". Once "it" is aired, the damage is done. It does not matter what the contract says.

PS: I have both personal and corporate attorneys on retainer, and they wrote my contract. It was air tight. but again, once it is aired...

I remember seeing a dog catch out at the last baying down there...

Dont think I've been to a baying where Atleast one didn't....

If you say you don't want to hurt the sport, you may want to take the advice the majority has already given you...

I'm from Florida were bay pens are illegal, there is no getting the buddies together and go spectate. There is no load my own dogs up and go compete. It sucks ! We don't even have dog sales here we have to drive to the winter classic in Ga. every year. the only event they have any where I can find they have a fake bear up a tree or coon with scent on it attached to a pull rope and its for hounds only. And it's boring. That's just for as far as events go. As for actual hunting goes you better have your own private land. Or you can get on a $1200 lease that's only good for hunting season. All of the wild life management areas do not allow any dog to pursuit a hog. only limited 3 day quota hunts that you have to apply and pay for and might not even get. My point is its extremely hard for guys to hog hunt around here and it's because it was advertised by the wrong person to the wrong person in the wrong way!   don't get what y'all already have takeing away!

I also feel that photos taken after the hunt with a couple dogs in the pic and the catch dog is full of blood and the hogs ear is all bloody
doesn't do our sport any good. Also pics where the catch dog is latched on to the hogs ear while we are actually out in the field isn't
good.  Ever wonder why there is just a few of us hog hunters from South La.? Because the mentality has changed here. People hate hunting dogs. I know people with big pieces of property that hogs are rooting up. When I ask if I could hunt it they say sure. When they
find out we want to use dogs they change their mind. I'm 50 now, but when I was growing up every one hunted with deer dogs. Now just
a very few people do. Every year in the legislature it is brought up to ban hunting dogs. So far they shoot it down but one of these years
it's going to past. Youtube, Facebook, Hunting Shows, Hog Hunting Pics shown in bad taste, and the big one, TRESPASSING on property
we have no business will end this sport. It will end.  When ? I don't know but it will. It will end when them state legislatures feel pressured by the property owners who are getting their fences cut and pressured by their anti-dog hunting constituents.  The younger generation
of hunters feel it's their right by-golly to post any picture they want. Them anti-hunters can just kiss their country arsses. The younger
hunters enjoy making videos of everything but it's hurting the sport of Hog Dogging. I'm not picking on the younger hunters.
Oh, and one last thing. You know what else is brought up in the Louisiana legislature every year ?  The antis try and ban Uncle Earls.
Uncle Earls only exists because there is still some older good ole boys in the legislature. Once them good ole boys retire from the legislature, who knows how it will go. We better all think things through before we post pics and videos and let TV crews film us. I'm a firm believer of "Out of Sight, Out of Mind".

Being that the animal cruelty laws in Texas are written the way they are... I wouldn't allow it.

No matter what they tell you, you won't have any input on what gets aired.

I wouldnt allow them to come, it would be nothing but bad news in the end IMO.

X2 evidentially you're more worried about making a name for your bay pen. Do us hog hunters a favor and don't do it! It's hard enough now to get places to hunt and dealing with critics saying you're abusing the dogs/hogs blah blah blah. I think everyone on here has agreed not to do it. Guess we ll see if you listen and take our comments to heart and realize you'd be hurting the hog dog community or if you disregard what was said and get caught up doing what you might think will "help" your pen thrive cause its been on tv. I wouldn't be surprised seeing your bay closing after the viewing. Good luck.
