A bunch of hogs have been getting into my Cousins steer pen, as they seem to do every year, eating the show feed.   My uncle has been raising hell to get me to come hunt them.  They bed up in a big Privet thicket on the river that's got several deep gullies running through it.  My old gyp stayed home in the hot box.  I just had Newt and Dad brought some pups.  Newt rolled on when he hit a good track and came bayed about 200 yards in the thicket.  I got there and let him work, and gave the pups a chance to get there.  There must have been hogs scattered out in the thicket because he was making WIDE loops.  I was close to some shoats milling around in the brush.  The pups were there but never had much to focus in on.  Newt ended up taking a hog or hot track up the hill but pulled back to where he started baying and we had a shoat catchin. I Tied it to take as a puppy trainer and newt rolled out.  He hunted for a while a never came bayed.  I got him to come in and moved over a bit to cast him there and he took a track that seemed promising.  Then he back tracked and rolled deep up river a ways and was working that spot hard and finally came bayed about the time I caught up with him.  He had this big sow bayed with one other smaller hog.  I shot her a little off and she ran a bit before she found a good spot to lay down and sulk.  I snapped an action photo before I sooked newt on her and stuck her.  Nice fat sow 200+ soon to be my stock pile of breakfast sausage.
