blind folds

this may be kind of stupid but im bored. have you ever thought about blindfolding the dogs you are starting while u scent train them?? i guess this would make them use there nose more than their eyesight. but i think it would help them alot in the long run and help yourself know that your dogs are actually following the scent. so what do yall think??

   well if you lay the scent trail yourself during traing you know where the trail is right ?  blind folding the dog would only confuse it and make it real nervous i would think  .

I don't know for sure but you get a "A+" for thinking outside the box...but it kind of makes sense...when one sense is not working the other senses rise to a higher level to make up the difference...

I want to try the tracking collar on the pig idea. I just have to get in the position to possibly lose a collar and not mind. In this scenario u could cut the pig loose and take the pups or young dogs back and cut his track. In this instance u could see how the pups work the track and how close they get before the pig starts running. U would also know for sure they are working the scent trail of a pig not u. I guess if a man had good finished dogs in the box he could turn them out if the pups didn't finish the job to get his collar back.

Lmao never thought about that but have wanted to blind fold and ear muff cds before. Wonder if you could blimdfold them for a day or so in their kennel before you did the pig training to let them somewhat get used to the blindfold
