My collage roommate came up from Freer for a visit & hunt.  Wayoutwest meet us at my house at 8:00.  We headed to town for breakfast, they wanted eggs, & beacon.  I pulled up to snows BBQ in Lexington, they said for breakfast.   Lol  well 8:15 & there was only one table open.  So we chowed down on brisket & pork ribs.    Then headed to get dogs & too the woods.  We headed to the creek bottom, & there was a little hog sign so I drove another 1/4 mile up past the sign into the wind to make the dogs hunt a little, trying to take advantage of the cooler weather.  Well they made a three good loops geting out 5-700 each time & nothing. So we loaded up after about 45-1hr & headed to another spot 1-1/2--- 2miles down the creek.   Turned loose again & it wasn't just a few & they were all three bayed together at 900.  Vested dogs & finished getting ready, & the bay breaks and goes another 300 so we jump on weelers & head around to get closer.  Get about 300 down wind and head in.  They have three sows and a few pigs bayed in a little briar thicket not 40-60 yards in size.   I take roommate & hd around downwind & sent west on other side with his catch dog.  Only about 30 feet from bay a sow 100 lb sow steps out so I hollered & we both turned loose catch dogs.  Got to watch my young bulldog get to think as the sow saw him & jumped back into thicket he changed directions & slowed up a touch & grabbed her a$$ as she hit brush.  Bout the same time wast catch dog got there also.  Buy the time I crawled in 5 feet to the catch my 2 older dogs had already rolled out, and when I looked up to see if I could see them got to watch my pup catch a pig.   About the same time they had another sow stopped in the open field.  Eased up to watch the dogs work & it was good watching, this sow kept trying to run& every time she tried to run she got grabbed & spun around.   This is what I am trying for in my dogs, so I was very happy.  West sent his catch dog in & my roommate stuck her. They rolled out immediately as soon as she was caught.  We waited about 10/15 min and we could here them bayed, check garmin & it was like 600 so we headed that way then it broke again and 1.04 mi.  So we keep going & got another sow in another briar thicker.  The plan was to catch the bay dogs first, well so much for plans.  They rolled out as soon as catch dogs got there.   So about 3 hrs and 10 miles later they were finally able to hold the bay long enough for me to go in and catch one more hog.  I managed to catch them finally.   These hogs were circling in a bout a 1/2 mile thicket & would not put up.   Guess it was a pretty good hunt, nothing to brag about but at least the dogs hunted good, & was proud of my pup she stayed with all of the hunt & most of the race.  We got the needed exercise, & got to hang out with good guys, about as good as it gets.
