Since I was old enough to wipe my own ass and fetch my dad and grandpa a bottle of water out of the cooler they have been taking me hunting and fishing. There came a time when I was around 16 when I thought that I had learned something one day on a hunting trip that I thought that no one else in the world knew or heard or thought of and was with my grandpa. After my excitement and looking over at my grandpa hopeing for his as well for what just happened he calming said you should write it down. Thinking it was sarcasm I said, I will and you'll remover this day. And he calmed me down and said NO seriously " write it down" I said why? He said just try it. I was 16, and thought grandpa was just getting hot from the sun and trying to give lesson and just said alright and gave it no mind. My grandpa died when I was 18 long story short I got a couple things from his room giving to me. Best thing I've ever been given in my life was a couple school style spiral note books full of in that had 20 years of writing in them. Might be able to get the same thing out of a hunting app on your smart phone now or save stuff on your gps whatever But the way it was broke down in his log was very informable. Kind of like the saying history repeats itself you could look back on dates and see why your doing bad and help with the current situation. Ok before this story gets tong and no one reads it moral of the story when your working on something and putting your time and effort into it and wanting results log it down and reflect on it. I always wonder why we had better hunting and fishing trips with grandpa. He already did all the homework for us lol

Hey mate that's a really cool idea, I love my old grand pa's stories, how good would it have been if the old boys carried cameras,

It'd be something to see what some of them old timers learned.
I can tell you without modern day equipment, they worked hard but they also learned to work smart and I've seen a few tricks from them from fence building to working cows to cutting trees that will stay with me, but I'm sure there was many more I watched that I didn't recognize at the time and will be lost forever.

I've been writing down every hunt and fishing trip I've been on since 00. You'd be surprised at the little things you forget. I also have a book that I write down every trick or tip I read about or hear. I also keep track of heat cycles and other pertinent information in their.
