What is the best for keeping ticks off of the dogs?? We are having hell with tick diseases being transferred to the dogs.

Briar's results just came back this morning positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever & Lymes Disease. Hopefully we caught it soon enough

I bought some horse spray from the local tractor supply, it was in a black spray bottle with a pic of a horse in full stride on it, there is also the same brand thats in an orange bottle. It kills on contact n needs to be reapplied bout 2wk later if the dogs are sweating a lot or go for a swim. It wont wash off immediately and still retains its effectiveness but should be reapplied later on.

Bayer tree and shrub has work best for me Tony.  You dilute it with water but if its real bad Ive duumped it straight onto there neck where they can't lick it and i promise they will be off the next day.  It's cheap also, homedepot or tractor supply

I use the tree and shrub also.  Had a hard time finding buyer without the fertilizer in it so I got dominion.  I don't add water just 4 parts tree and shrub to 1 part permitherin and put a generous line from the base of the tail to the base of the head.  Been working great for me.  No fleas, ticks, flies, etc...

Termidor SC, it's 9.1% Fipronil. I don't the chart with the amount per pound with me, but it's the same active ingredient as frontline and just about the same amount.

Thing is we use Bayer on our dogs, but are still getting the ticks. I saw on here were Big O had said we need to mix a certain chemical with the Bayer to kill the ticks as well. I searched but couldn't find the post

With my dogs that sweat real bad i use medicated ear tags strapped to their collars. Seems like i never have problems with ticks or flys as long as the tag is in place. Smiley sweaty dogs Smiley

Preventic collars. I SWEAR by them. Vet's have 'em. They last 3mths per collar.

The regular tree and shrub stuff ain't really for ticks just fleas. I use permetherin 10% 3-5 cc down the neck and back. Works great, its real oily so it don't wash off easily.

I have my mix in a spray bottle and will spray them down before a hunt for a little extra. If that tick bites before it dies your dog can get sick. I had a dog get lyme desease and now I give a few extra sprays before a hunt. I also pour it on their backs every week or two.
