... took a break from boar slaying to take the fam and friends out on the water this weekend, thought I'd share some of the scenery with yall

Shot fish all morning before running out to the barrier island Egmont Key, cooked lunch on the beach and went for a hike around the deserted island.  Sat down on in the sand on the Gulf side of the island to reflect for a bit and saw something walking my way... pulled my phone out and shot some vid of this fellow beachwalker... he walked right by me, only occasionally stopping to graze on spriggs of grass, never even gave me a second look as he motored on by...  pretty damn cool I gotta say.

... I'll add some more in a bit

I am so jealous. I LOVE the view. I wish that we had white sand and blue water at our beaches. Everything is brown here.  Sad

Noah, last year a free dove for the first time and had a blast, anyway more for practice than anything I decided to kill a couple big spades, well i killed em so i brought em home and fried them..........they were awesome, i couldnt cook it fast enough......if youve never tried one I highly suggest em.

Everybody I've ever known considers them trash fish lol, but I will try one next time!  As for the best eating fish by spearing... for me, American Red Snapper is damn hard to beat...  very, very hard fish to kill freediving but worth the trouble  Cheesy

I rank Sheepshead above Grouper and Hogfish, all three are perty dang good though  Grin

Hogfish

Gag grouper(much better than Red Grouper) and Permit, usually smoke the Permit and make dip out of it

Same around here... We don't eat sheepshead. I've never tried it. Same goes for mullet. I believe their a popular table fare over there. Y'all also have much better looking water than we do over here don't know if that has anything to do with it.

sheepshead is one of my favorite fish...but you need a good sized sheepshead to get two fillets...
