I am probably going to be building a trailer to run traps with. I need to be able to back it up to the trap and run the hogs into it. I did the search engine and didn't find what I was looking for. Any of you guys have something like that?

Are you running corral traps or cage traps?

They are commonly called a "getter" . You might do a search for that also. Most ive seen had an acle that was forward of center with a winch system at the front that allowed the back to fall to the ground,or some people simply build a small caged ramp that can be put between the trap door and the trailer to load hogs with.

Here is mine.  Got gilliten doors that have pullys on them with long rope .  I got a loading ramp I bought put it up against the trap and then back the trailer up against the loading ramp hogs will walk right in the trailer .  I got it to were I have both ropes to both doors in my hands I can pull and shut the back door and then pull and shut the middle door just depending were I want them.

That loading ramp is a life saver .  For a long time we had pure hell trying to get the hogs to walk into the trailer sometimes it was a two three hour fight to get them in as soon as I put the loading ramp up there it takes about five mins to load five six hogs they will just walk right up the ramp and straight in the trailer .  Dont know why this is I guess they can see day light between the trailer and the trap and think they can get out all I know is it was a life saver when loading hogs out of trap into a trailer.

I saw one that was real nice. The door swung alll the way around to the side. So you open in up and back up flush the a gate on the trap/ It had a solid roof and solid front and the inside was black so it look like a good hiding spot. I forget the actual name but I call it a sorting gate inside. It could be slid open from the side and moved around to make more or less room. If you've seen one you know what I'm taking about. So you open the back gate and latch it open. Back up to the pen. Open the sorting gate. Then open the pen gate and put the ramp on. (thick plywood with 2X4's works) Then turn the dogs lose outside the pen and some will run in. Have a person close the sorter and then go in and chase the pigs but stay away from the gate and they will go in. Have a person working the sorter gate to open it enough to let pigs in and then close it. When you have the pigs secure the sorting gate pull forward and lock the trailer and pen gates.

Sorry no picks. It had dog boxes and room for a fourwheeler on the front too.

Using a dog to catch in a pen is not legal in many places. Plus why would you want to? Load them up and don't risk a dog on a pig that can't get away. I have gone in and just caught them myself. You can just rope them from the outside if you don't want to go in or they are too big. You don't have to be in a hurry. I prefer the least stress on the pigs and less work for me.

I tell you it sure works great .  You would be surprised at how many hogs can fit in that trailer.  I have had as many as 20 in there at a time and some good sized one at that.  The middle door is great man you can put what you want in the front and get the ones out that you want and seperate .  I bought it from a ole boy that thought he was gonna do some trapping built it for hiself .  Got it built and it just set there for nearly four years .  When he told me about it I went and looked at it never had a hog in it .  He never painted it so it was all rusty as hell and didnt look to good but I grabbed a holt of it and man it was solid solid and built to last .  Once I saw how solid it was I bought it on the spot took it home put some tires on it greesed it and threw some black stove heat paint on it that stuff last for ever .  Have not  had one problem with it . A life saver is what it is for trapping .

Here's a trap trailer I built 6 or 7 years ago. It works really slick, the frame is an old boat trailer. It has a slam latch on the middle gate, and a sliding back gate. The back end is built at an angle so when you back up to a trap and winch it up, it will be flush. Has chains and hooks on both sides so if you want to you can chain it to the trap. Also have round bar that is spaced out about every 6" that holds the boards down and also gives the pigs traction to climb up in the trailer.
