I've noticed this 10 mth old pup trail pretty good. I watch in the spot light him take tracks with his nose down-full speed ahead!!! I wanted to brag on him so I could join the "silent owner" club. Last night was his big silent break, he ran down a cottontail and never barked (point 1). I hit him with a lil shock and went down the field 50 yards (Doe in the spotlight). After she ran off, Machito showed up, took the track, and kept quiet the whole time (point 2). I called him off the track and hit the shock button, he quit pretty quick. yay for him!!!
OK, I'm being a little sarcastic, but give me any opinions if its a good sign he keeps his mouth shut while tracking, even if it is trash, since he is still learnin he is a hog dog. He's got great potential so far, I'm investing time in em and he makes me smile in many ways.

HoundXCur Cross....so I guess lucky it is! Dad is redboneXpitXmt curXplott.... Mom is CatXhound....thats his brother in background. Here he is now.... He's been on a couple good bays and he watched the RCD and the loose YBMC both work, so he's gettin the best of both worlds in that deal. I'm happy to have him. It's funny when a buddy gives u a good dog for free how the value changes from "free" to "priceless"....

Some dogs will be open or silent depending on the game they're running. I had a Mt. Cur that was open on coons and deer, but silent on a hog track but would yip if the hog broke and he was right behind them.

I'm thinkin he's gonna turn out that way. As long as he finds hogs and does his BEST to stop em, I'm gonna be a happy guy No matter if he's open or silent... I know he's young and has a long way to figure out what I want him to do, but so far, he favors hogs over anything. Also, he gets a bonus for acting like cows are invisible, unlike the deadgum yella gyp he rolls with (It's tempting to sell her to a cowboy that needs a cowdog in comparison to him,LOL, which I know I would regret. It's gonna take some "quality" time to break her from horses & cows, then we will work on her trashin on buzzards!)
