Picked up a new property yesterday that i've had dealings with the past few years. They always wanted us there, but "the board" kept rejecting the idea of having the dogs brought in. Well, the management company called and said "We need you out here now... the hogs are worse than they've ever been!" Grin

So, Chris, Mandi and John met me out there yesterday evening. Long story short, they have a lot of hogs, but most are in little wooded strips inside the neighborhood... and we're hunting outside the neighborhood. Huh? We probably saw 40 to 50 hogs total, people walking by, riding bikes, walking their dogs... nothing bothered the hogs. Shocked

So we turned out right at dark, in the woods away from all the hogs, and ended up with three... two shoats and a nice boar. Thought we had a unique looking hog with the white blaze on his face... then caught a shoat with the same markings. Guess it's in the blood over there.

Get as many as you can and as quickly as you can before they change their minds. In Geronimo we did the same was a great place to start puppies. The only thing was that all the neighborhood dogs would try to join in so word to the wise try to hunt as early as possible and stop early.

Something that I found interesting on this hunt... We came up on two groups of hogs within a 1/4 mile of each other that looked entirely different . One group was thin, and looked like they were built to cover some country, the others looked fat and healthy. I would have thought they would look more similar to each other living in such close proximity.

I can't wait to see what Foxy can do out there, she'll be on the hogs before they see her coming.

I had a great time, even if it did require a little swimming.

It's getting pretty bad over there too, we've already had board meetings, many phone calls, references checked and they still don't see the light. Even though we've got them pretty much surrounded on three sides now with various county properties. But that's ok... we usually get the call when all else fails. Bad for them, good for us. Grin

Sounds like a good hunt. Are there not any worries about the homeowners flipping out about the dogs? Figured there would but a few nut jobs around.

Rex,

There are def. some nut jobs out there...it's just part of the game though. Ignore them, do what WE know is right, and carry on. They are not changing my mind, and I am not changing theirs... Most homeowners are glad to see the hogs gone.

There's always gonna be the whackos when dealing with these city hogs.

But that's why we work very closely with law enforcement and notify them when we go out. I have several deputies and a couple of game wardens cell phone numbers... someone will be there within minutes if there's ever any problems. Wink
