Before I start this off, let me clarify to all that will read this. I take completly believe that what happened to me is my fault and I shouldn't be so trusting about buying a dog. The fact that I got burnt is my fault. I should've hunted the dog before buying it, but with that said if I can prevent someone else from getting burnt I will. I bought a dog last week from a guy in Arkansas. Ends up the dog is 100% worthless. Does nothing that the guy said she will. If anyone is looking for a dog around Arkansas be careful for this guy. If anyone is interested in this individuals name on here or phone number just pm me and ill send it to you. My best dog got killed a few weeks back and I was in a bind to replace him fast, in doing so I deffinetly got screwed. Guess that's how it goes. Pm for more info on this individual.

Sucks to lose that much on a dog. I only spent 625 but I guess you just can't trust anyone. Not everyone will burn you, I did meet a good guy in Oklahoma before I bought this dog. The dog I was gonna buy from him ended up not being what I wanted but he was true to his word and took her back, even had his ex wife meet me to get the dog back. Unfortunatly not all hog hunters are that way.

I will throw in my two cents on the dog trader issue. I look at the dog trader section daily just to see what people have for sale. You can see a trend who have dogs for sale all the time. The dogs they have for sale may be legit or they may just be a dog peddler. What I like to do is look at the persons posts and see if all the post they have are in the dog trader, if that's the case I would stay clear of them or do some more homework on them. If the person selling the dog has some posts of caught hogs makes me not as Leary but still cautious. Proof is in the pudding.

sorry about your loss...but I have seen some awesome dogs that will only hunt for the master and no one else...if he is one of these make friends with ithe dog, gain his trust, and once he accepts you he will work for you as he did for the last owner...sometimes it takes a couple of months...
but then the dog could be a cull and he knowingly put the screws to you...

Reuben, I do understand what your saying about the dog and possibly that's what it is. But my opinion is a dog that's suppose to be a well started strike dog should take a track when u put them in good sign, and this dog won't even do that. I believe I got screwed.

Like I said to start it off. This is my fault, but I am in a bind for a good dog after mine was killed. I shouldn't have been so trusting. I am not gonna sit here and bash the guy but I do want to hopefully prevent someone else from loosing there hard earned money on a worthless dog.

I have seen some mt. curs that are jam up dogs and with the new owner it took a long while to get them going...I am talking about not hunting at all...you could put them on a hot track and no go...but they came around...

BINGO, there's a few who seem to have good dogs coming out of their ears apparently, there are a couple that have sold more dogs in the last 5 months than I have bought in the last 5 years! pays to pay a little attention, plus the "dog trade" is a funny place, there's always somthing in the forum that makes me laugh

i'm with rueben on this one . and when i do sell a started or plum hard hunting wonder dog i will allways tell the buyer to do nothing with the dog the first two weeks but let it get acclimated to the new surroundings routines and owner . this just makes good sence . have you talked to the guy again ? if not give the dog awhile to gain your trust and try hunting it a little more . i got a couple here that i will have to own till they are gone because they wont hit a lick lessen i'm there .

He was still in contact with me for the first few days, but know he will not answer calls or text. I'm gonna hold her for a few more weeks to make dead sure after hearing what all has been said, maybe she will start once she gets to know me better.

Strap that dog in the back of your truck and take her everywhere you go so that she knows that she is yours. None of my dogs will hunt for strangers, and if you hunt with them a lot they will hunt for you if you put them right in hogs. I think it is because they are lazy and they know what they can get away with when I am not around, but BMC and Mt. Curs are strange and temperamental dogs!

It also helps to do some basic obedience exercises with the dogs as well to establish yourself as its master.
