I tap them on the nose with the breakstick 2-3 times and tell them to let go, then break them off.
After a good many catches and the exact same repetition and they get the game. All you have to do is tap them with the breakstick and they will let go.

I personally don't use a breakstick myself, I'm extremely lucky in my opinion. My current cd is perfect for me, she weighs maybe 55lbs, she is a blue pit that I acquired fullgrown and know absolutely nothing about her background. I usually leave her on the ear until I have the hog tied or stuck. I have never had to use a breakstick on her, she has never let one go before I was ready for her to, once I get off the hog and tell her to leave it alone she lets go and usually just kinda sits around til I tell her to get back on the 4wheeler, she's a great little dog just wish she was about 25lbs bigger sometimes.

After we knife the hog we just cut the ear off that he/she is attached to...

I use a breackstick i don't like choking them out .bugs there eyes and not needed we just go all the way to the back of the mouth and twist..come right off the nose thing never worked for me .maybe i didn't do it right lol

We use a sbreakstick or pull up on their collar until they turn loose. I would never strike a dog for doing what is expected of him

Please tell me hangalong s aren't what I am thinking.........
I grab their collar and pull straight up . Isn't easye but after a min or two they are off. I don't like the idea of a break stick , seems like you could break a tooth .

I also just pull straight up on the collar until the dog needs to breathe. Works well.

Never leave home without it! The Breaking Stick is essential for Game Breed BullDogs. I didnt mean that in a bad way, not saying you cant use it on other dogs, but its a hell of alot easier that trying to chock one off. BUT, you have to know how to use it. You can break teeth if not used properly. Which is already mentioned in another reply. So, if you want one/need one there are tons of folks here in the great state of TEXAS that know where to get one.

Break stick for sure. Hardly have to put any pressure at all on the stick to get him to release. Just stick it back in the corner of his jaw and he opens his mouth.
