I hope the owner finds this dog. I noticed that the title of the video is "too skinny?"  The dog looks plenty fat to me.  Smiley

hahaha that is his water......  I am really laughing right now..

I have always had cattle dogs and never any type of cur so that is the reason I posted the video. I have been pouring the food to him (not by the 5 gallon bucket thought) and he hasnt gained any weight so that is why i was asking..

Here is the story I posted on the THF.
I had a cur show up at my place about a month back and he had a cut vest and collar on, I put him in my kennel and got in there with him, took the vest off, got him some food and water and then started trying to give him a bath, he was covered in dried clay and mud. once I got him cleaned up a little I contacted the owner (at the number that was on his collar). the guy who answered said he didnt know the guy I was asking for and that he had just got that phone.. I tried to search for him on facebook and didnt have any luck..

Can yall view the short video of the dog and give me your opinions on weather or not he is too skinny or unhealthy. I have always had blue heelers and I am not used to seeing ribs.. I have been feeding him too cans of canned food twice a day as well as keeping fresh caliber 24-20 in there 24-7 and he hasn't gained a pound..

I took him to the vet because he was missing the hair from one of his ears and had and cyst under it and had other soars on him and the vet checked him over and said everything was fine and gave me some drugs for him.

I want to try him out in this area, somewhere between Winnie and Jasper I wouldn't mind paying a fee or what ever I just want to try him out.. I would really like him to be with other dogs and i would really like him to have a tracking collar on, If he was to disappear with your collar I will buy you a new one.. I just dont want to drop $500 on a gps system and then him haul butt the first time, or just sit down beside me.. lol

I would be willing to turn him over If someone could answer a few questions about him for me but at this point and $240 in meds and vet visit later I am really liking him.

yes sir that dog looks good . smooth round hip region . to a lot of folks that aren't around slick haired dogs much a hound or slick coated cur dog looks thin . but if your heelers are in good athletic condition and you shaved their hair off they would look the same as far as weight and condition  .

Glad to know he is healthy. Thanks Halfbreed
No problem Lacy man.
The owners name was J.D. Newmann Or J.O. Newmann. The D or O was scuffed up pretty bad. It was not a local number, I cant recall the area code..

Well I'm sure the owner will pop up eventually because I'm positive the owner wouldn't throw that dog out on the side of the road with that expensive gear on! He looks good though.

Dog looks at a great weight to me, I agree with the others. That was nice of you for taking him in. Someone's got to be missing him. I know you said you tried Facebook but you could also post a found ad on Craigslist. ALOT of folks scan Craigslist ads you'd be suprised. I'd like to think that if the original owner found you that after proving ownership he'd at least reimburse your vet fees.

Oh I didn't see you mention it, have you dewormed him? Wouldn't hurt.

I had the ad up for about a week and kept getting people that claimed he was theirs but couldnt describe anything about him other than what you could see in the picture.

I havent wormed him but the vet swabbed the q-tip and studied it for a few minutes under the microscope, I am willing to worm him though, I know there are many methods but what seems to work with these dogs?

Triple wormer from a feed and ranch store works good. The brand I use is actually called triple wormer. A hound is in good shape when the rump is round and smooth no hip bones showing. U normaly can see the last 2 to 3 ribs under the skin. The backbone should not be pronounced but flat or just below the backstrap muscles. This is what I see as a dog in good in good running shape.

I just watched the video and that is one good lookin dog. That dog looks to me to be in very good shape with excellent muscle tone. Wish he wandered up at my house with no legitimate claimers.
