7-3-09 Hunt

Matt, Clay, Stacy, Chris and Mandi met up with me last night for a hunt. We hunted where all the were supposed to be... but they weren't there. Changed our plan and finally bayed up a young boar in another area. The dogs were hot and tired by then... so was Matt and Mandi. Matt went home, Mandi went to sleep in the truck, we grabbed some fresh dogs and went back out. A little while later we had a good bay on the bluff bank of the creek and ended up with this nice sow. Good hunt but it was way too hot and humid... even at 2:00 in the morning.

Nice! Man those are some odd lookin' hogs, you think that white is from the population inbreeding?

Noah, that's what we were talking about. That's the third one in two hunts out there marked like that... I guess it's from inbreeding?

I know deer around here get that piebald look when they're in real isolated patches of woods where fresh genetics have a hard time getting to them... then again... could just be one stud-of-a white faced boar running around town

I was woopt!  I had been up since 5am, drove about 300 miles and I was tired of being hot, at 11pm the heat index was 96!!  I had brought one young dog and he had got to bay and catch the boar hog so I figured I would quite while I was ahead.  We were at the trucks and it was 12:45 so I said gotta go, I had my fun for the night.  I knew that they would go catch a good one and told them so before I left.  I was in bed by 1:30 and had put the dog on a hog, I was good for the night.  If it had been a little cooler I would have been there all night.
