has anybody had hogs come to a bay ? ive had cattle come to a bay lots of times , have 12 or 15 when you first ease in behind them and maybe twice that many when you get them out of the woods . but the day i lost buck that sow busted out of the brush just about the time we got to where we could see the group bayed . i thought it odd looks like she would get while the gettins good , but she did seem to be nursing pigs , just wondering if anybody else has seen it before .

im not a good writer , im refering to my post (killed by a sow ) when the young dog was bayed and never heard the rough dog .

The rally... some areas seem to have hogs that know how to do it better than others. Had it happen a few times and I think about it every time I'm tying a hog up. Those buggers can get mighty brave when they're protecting their own.

Had a boar hog run in one time and throw my dogs off a shoat they caught. I already tied he catch dog to a tree and went in to grab the shoat... out of the corner of my eye this boar ran in, tossed two dogs and ran off.  My ol' Blue dog ran him a while that day, but never got him stopped. |

I dont think they will come in from any distance but if they are rite there they will come to a caught hog.
Just off the top of my head I remember a few times.
sent a bulldog in to a couple of sows and shoats and had a big black boar run in and slice and dice him while he was caught then run off with the rest. We looked the group over good and there wasnt even a black hog in it before we sent in the bulldog.
This year in the marsh we byaed up a big black boar, sent in the catch dog and legged the hog. I went to break off the bulldog before my buddy flipped the hog and had a big grey boar come running at us. We hollered and waved at him and he stopped about 10 yards from us and stood there watching and huffing. Didnt work out well for him in the end though. LOL Soon as the first one hit the ground the baydogs were on him too. LOL

i wish id had more dogs that day id a done my best to put a hurtin on that old hussy .
she came from the other side of the ridge , maybe 1/4 mile

Ive had it happen several times over the years!
The very 1st time it happened to me I was tying a sow and this monster boar came busting through the brush and fortunately went for a young dog that was hanging around and not me! He promptly put me and my partner up in a nearby tree, finished running the young dog out of the area and disappeared with the sow that I had partially tied. We re-caught the saw but never seen that big nasty rascal again.

It has saved my bacon on more than one occasion!
