I have a young dog I raised myself who for some reason now that it's older loves to run from me and refuses to come.
Is it okay to bump a dog like this when it tries to evade you to the point you have to corner it and snatch it by the collar?
All my other dogs will come right up for petting etc and this lil number 2 stays back 10 feet and just watches like it is some wild stray.
I don't have an E collar yet but was thinking of getting one to help with this dog, then later for trash breaking. Any advice?

Yes, but work with the dog first on about 100' piece of lightweight rope or mule tape.
I'll pull mine to me saying "come here" and praise it. If it tries to run, I'll say "no" a few times then give a little juice... it doesn't take long for them to figure it out.

Yep it will work. The dog will run when you correct it at first. Follow the dog (best to do it in an enclosed yard). It will try and hide. Lower the correction a little and call it. Keep correcting it until it comes out to you. Sounds a bit tough but it does work and you should only have to do it a few times....
I don't use a rope. I don't think it makes any difference. Trust me the dog knows what you want its just refusing.

Exactly......I agree 100% No need to call the dog now unless you can 'make' it come to you.....as in pull it with the rope....and use juice if needed.

100% agreed. I didnt hav an issue with mine that did the exact same thing ur describing, but i dodnt hav mule tape, i just lit him up when he turned tail to run. Took bout 5 hits and he figured it out, but i praised him and giv him a weiner afterwards.
