I havent posted any hunts on here in a good while. Thought this one deserved sharing since so many folks know my D-man dog.
Yesterday Levi came out to the ranch to help with a hunt. Hogs are getting scarce around the ranch with all the pressure we have put on them. Hollywood and Dman did what they do, and produced 4 hogs, the guests had a blast.

We called it quits early due to warm weather, but I told them Id take them out this morning for a quick round. Levi had to work, but let me use his bulldog. I just carried Dman and turned him loose close to a cane thicket Id seen some sign by a while back. He worked about 10 minutes and bayed in the canes. Turned bulldogs loose and they caught the boar in his bed. After the hog was dispatched by the guests, I saw Dman was treed at 80 yds but all was quiet. I knew what that meant. Got to him and he wasnt doing very well. Got him to vet, told him to do whatever it took. He called an hour later to say Dman would be fine. My joy was short lived, he called back a few hours later to say the dog didnt make it.
Dman was what a hog dog should be. No interest in be handled or doing anything but hunting hogs. Ive hunted behind A LOT of dogs. A ton of culls, a few good ones, and a handful of great dogs. Dman was one of the greats.  I believe the only dog Ive seen that would top Him was his mama, Stoli. Thats high praise, but anyone thats hunted with him knows what he was. My only regret was not collecting a few straws. That line of dogs produces some sure enough good ones.

Michael I sure hated to hear that about D-Man. Dogs like that that are just a pleasure to hunt are hard to find these days.
I was really looking forward to breeding this young female to him.
We have a couple of male dogs over here off Patrick that are close kin to D-Man that you are welcome to breed to if you ever want to. Danny has a young male dog named Speck that's off D-man's sister that is showing out.
I'll probably breed this female to him now and I'll send you one..

RIP D-Man...

Sorry to hear about D-man Micheal. He was a good dog and I sure enjoyed hunting behind his daughter crickett while I had her. Sure enough natural go the woods and find hogs and hunt type dogs.

D-man was the best I've hunted with by far. I've had two gyps out of him, both were making outstanding dogs when they got killed. He was a once in a lifetime kind of dog, and a producer in his offspring. I think I was as sick as Michael when it happened.

Michael,

I sure hated to get that call.  I knew you weren't calling to say good morning.  I greatly appreciate you letting me hunt dman for the past two years after Stolie died.  I have a lot of good memories of him.  He was truely a one dog show.   He'll be greatly missed!  I hope to get his sister bred so we can try to get a few more similar to them.
