I have a 5 year old gyp. she has had 2 previous litters. one litters pups are 27 months old and the other 9 months old. i tried to breed her last heat and she had false pregnancy. her mom had issues as she got older about not taking when i tried to breed her(last 3 times she didnt take but she was 8 or 9+). i just bred her again about 3 weeks ago and i was just wondering if anyone has had any hereditary problems or anything. and if it was worth it to take to vet if she doesnt take this time to get hormones tested and AI next heat. every litter off her and her mom would br well worth the money, i just have never had any experience with that and asking for info. thanks

i never breed a gyp two cycles in a row. but yea if she dont take this time get her checked. another question has the male throwed pups before could be him?

the male that bred her 2 heats ago that made my 9 month pups had never been bred but she took, next heat i bred her to an older male that has been bred multiple times, i have bred heats in a row many times before. they drop the eggs regardless when they come in heat, unless they have problems. i have raised pups for years and keep my gyps healthy and wean pups early. i have never had issues until now. my main question was has anyone had any hereditary issues with gyps not taking and or does taking them to vet for hormone level checks and AI to get the timing perfect really increase the chances. thanks

it is possible the old male that has been bred multiple times gave her brucecillosis...the pups will be born dead or she will abort and it will look like a false pregnancy...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...

Yeah I'd have her tested to rule out Brucellosis. Then, when the time comes again, I'd take her to a vet that does AI's that can test her for when she is most fertile, to perform the AI at the best time. That's about as sure as you can be.
