I have a friend that caught over 250 hogs with one dog in a year...he was a ranch hand at the time on a big ranch...sometimes it wss caught sometimes it was shot depending on the size...

back about 8-9years ago when I really got into running dogs I had 1 hunting buddy and we had 3 SOLID large tracts of land to hunt, we hunted 3 ymb'cs 1 ybmc/plott and 1 walker and I can guarantee that those 5 dogs saw at least 350 in 1 year alone, one place we hunted in Labelle Texas 3-5 days a week I can honestly say that we may have gone  a dozen times in a year and not caught multiple hogs. It was a honey hole like I have never seen since. 26,000 acres of hay, rice and marsh plum full of hogs, we had it made back then, no kids no ol ladys no real responsibilities other than a little bs 40hr a week job, pretty much we worked solely to pay for our hog hunting, those were great times and some of the best memories i've ever made in the woods. Me and david are still close friends to this day and it seems like everytime we get together with our families the pictures start coming out and we end up talkin about all the good times. To be honest we didn't have the best dogs around by any means BUT we hunted them 5 + days a week EVERY week for a LONG time.....sure dogs came and went but the core 5 were on every hunt unless they were injured....... wish I could still hunt like that but life has gotten in the way and family comes first!
Haters.....makes me smile
At first I thought you were lieing....but then you said bayed with dogo and I knew you were telling the truth.

If you hunt a lot and have decent spots and good dogs that's not a far fetched number, depending on your standard of dogs it's easily attainable in a few years if not less, an example years ago my father in law had a spot they hunted several nights a week and caught over 300 head in a summer, but then again that was an awesome spot and they had the dogs to do it.

All joking aside any thing is possible if your check book is big enough or you have to do it this is a fact. My daddy told me many yrs ago the winners don't cash checks they write them

Me and a buddy started counting in January one year and sometime in April we lost count at around 60 head.   We hunted at that pace all year, every year for well over 10 years and although I don't remember any one dog's numbers I would say that number would very attainable.    Another thing, I don't count any hog until its legs are tied or the hunter grabs his legs and sticks him.   A guy could pill up and bunch of numbers with a gun, good marksmanship, and poor dogs.  IMO

I'm like everyone else life gets in the way these days.

But if your a single bloke hunting regularly then 500 is certainly possible. More often than not either something happens or the dog gets plain "wore out" as you guys say. I know of one no BS old dog that was worked on his own 3-4 nights a week (a running catch dog, my mate was a professional kangaroo shooter) for 4-5 years and then less regularly after that. I wouldn't like to guess how many pigs old Boss caught over the years.  Certainly many hundred. I remember he caught 22 boars in two night running at wheat harvest time one year, he was the only dog on the truck.

My two older dogs would've seen several hundred each, in one 5 days stretch we got over 100...but have they caught 500 each? No probably not.
