Haha. I have heard of twisting a single ply collar to cut the air off and blowing suddenly in an ear to make em let go.
Again...I will have to get a newbie to confirm that one for us. Lol

Feed a dog a few cotton balls soaked in cream and it will wrap itself around Sharp objects that the dog has swallowed like wire, bone shards, or plastic shards so that they can poop them out without getting their gut all cut up.

Works great. Sun can't penetrate the black siding on the buckets as well, algae needs sunlight to grow. |

Well i'll be........come to think of it i have 1/2 black buckets and 1/2 white.....never paid much attention before now but ur right, algae is only in the white buckets......learn somthing new everyday! |

yep I gained a bunch of weight when I quit smoking and went to dipping lol . grandpa used to put grandma's honest [ powdered snuff , for all you young ones ] in the chicken nest boxes to eliminate lice and mites .

are your black tubs in the shade? I'm not a scientist so I don't know if it's true or not, but I put a half ounce of clorox in one week, then half an ounce of Corrid ( coccidiosis med ) in the next week to make sure their water stats clean and the coccidial bacteria stays killed |

Naw, they r not in the shade. Iv tried the bleach after i drained n cleaned it, but after a couple wks the algee would reapeer. After last yrs drought though, aint no algee. Mayb somethn in the water table at a higher level was leaching the aglee spores in the supply table. Like u said t-bob, i aint no scientist n im just speculating as to why after the drought

I know black rubber buckets will algae in a hurry. Haven't tried plastic.
Easiest way to remedy the situation is to keep a scrub brush next to pens.
Once a week they get scrubbed and water replaced...other than topping off or refills.
Put a cap full of bleach in bucket when you first begin to fill.... so water agitates and dilutes it properly.
This will basically serve as a preventive against algae and skeeter larvae due to a higher shot of chlorine.
If your water is over a week old...it begins to stagnate anyway and should be replaced.
Watch the buckets after rain water......it changes the ph and will accelerate the deterioration of the clean water.
Summertime also accelerates the process.
This process doesn't harm a hair on your dogs...in fact I would say it is more of a beneficial.....ie bacteria and heartworm preventive.

Few caps full of pine OIL mix w water spray on dog makes hair grow great on bare spots . I been doing this for yrs and it works well
