Need Info on GoPro!

I have the GoPro Hero 3.  It is awesome.  I will use it in 2 weeks when I run the London Marathon.  I have a head strap and it will be positioned on top of my head.  I will set it to take time lapsed pictures every minute.  Then make a video with each frame on screen for 4 seconds.  That way you can tell what is going on and the video is only 10 to 15 minutes long.

I have a buddy that records video on his mountain bike rides with it mounted on his helmet.  You feel like you are riding the bike.  It is very impressive.

As to mounting brackets  ...  they have all kinds.  But I prefer the ones on the head/helmet.  They give a nice view.

I bought mine new on Ebay.

Yes, it shoots with great clarity but everything looks a lot farther away (has no zoom feature). For instance say your watching a bay at 50 yards away and you can see it clear as day with your eyes but you get home and watch your video and you can't see crap because it looks like it was 150 yards away. It is good for up close videos in the woods. The sound sucks even with the open case. Everything shot looks like its shot through a bubble. I personally feel like I wasted my money on it. I am still trying to find another camera with similar hands free mounting options that shoots better video or should I say shoots better video in the woods.

This is a very accurate review.  Same issues with mine.  Get one of the others for just recording while hog hunting.

Rl, just an advice, to me the head strap for a marathon will be a little heavy after a while. Jmo.

I just got one for a helicopter coyote hunt I'm going on...we used it on a night hunt for rabbits with bows and it did pretty good but objects did appear further away. I got online and got a video editor I could zoom in on the object and create a full length video of the entire hunt, came out chit because I'm not a video editor but you could see everything you needed to. Maybe I'll post a video of the heli hunt once I'm done

My buddy has one and fabricated a leather collar-mount for the camera to ride under the dogs neck. I agree with all the commentary as far as fish eye effect, no zoom, plus, once the dog slobbers it up a little , u cant see much. But what i love to watch isnt the bay and catch, but how the dog wearing the camera works. U can see him trail, wind, stop and decide which path to take at a fork,  then when bayed, are they baying loose, tight, or busting the bay. Plus, if u dont wind up with pork on the wheeler, you can look at the video and see if, in fact, they were ever on a hog, and if they were, how'd they lose it.

This is why I want one. Once a dog hits the woods u may as well be blind. A garmin will give u insight like was previously unavailable. With a go pro a man can actually lay eyes on what's happening. If I could afford it I would have one on each dog even if I could only do it for one hunt.

So I would also be interested in finding one as cheap as possible.

I bought a new Hero 3 model off Ebay for $235  ($300 retail).  If it is for the dog to wear, the Hero 2 should suffice and they retail for $200 and can likely be found for much less.

go pro sucks. i got a cheep camera ( smallest 1i could find). bought the pinnacle Movie Maker. all for less than $200. don't worry about the camera so much the movie maker is what makes it look good. you comes with it has a green screen so you can do any background you want you can add video cut splice. add text revolving titles. any kind of audio overlapping audio you can actually talk and describe what's going on. it takes a little while to learn, but once when you have it it makes video making fun. and with 1-click you can post it to YouTube, Facebook,ect.......

Y'all really think this video isn't very good?

I thought it was good. The running can make you dizzy but the bay...I thought wasn't bad at all.

You can see how dogs bay (distance, etc.) a little bit...the dog wearing the camera actually shuts the hog down on a break at one point.

I think it's alright! Ill probably end up getting one somewhere down the line.
