Anyone play golf? I suck but play a little. Hadn't played this year since like Feb., lol. Ill usually play more in the heat of the summer when I hunt at night.
Anyway....went to Virginia a couple years ago. Stopped in Augusta just to see the course...maybe get a ball or something that said Augusta National or The Masters. Couldn't even get thru the gate! Didn't understand that. Just wanted a ball! Geez!

The Masters, US Open, and British open are about the only ones that I will take time to watch anymore.
I was on the golf team all 4yrs of high school at one of the biggest schools in OK, and was number 1 man on the team junior and senior year. I had some scholarship offers from some smaller schools in the state, but my dumb butt decided partying and chasin tail was more important, along with some family issues. I kick myself everytime I see someone that I played against in HS tournaments, make 65k for finishing 40th place in a PGA tournament. Up until two years ago, I still played quite a bit until back problems set in. But I just played for fun and an excuse to drink beer and get away from the ex wife for a few hours, otherwise I would get upset when I couldnt play as good as I used to. Back in my day if I was more than 1 or 2 over par, I was pissed.
A lot of macho type guys knock golf. But I always believed, and still do, that it is one of the greatest games. Certainly not the most entertaining to watch, but what I liked about it is that the fact, whether good or bad, your results were all on you. There is no, he droppped the pass, missed a tackle, fumbled, etc.... ITs all on you. No excuses.
I also got to see a lot of great places while playing. I have played most of the best courses in OK, and a lot of them in TX as well as other states. I got to play the Deerwood and Kingwood courses while they were filming the Tin Cup movie. That was really neat playing those courses with all the grand stands set up all over. But I have trouble watching that movie knowing how jacked up they have the holes. Like the big scene where he keeps going in the water on the par 5 18th, is really a short par 4 on Deerwood that you have to lay up to not hit in the water.
I still do some short game work in the back yard, or go to a putting green every now and then, but thats about as much golf as my back can handle anymore.

Used to play then I picked up this sport....I averaged 83-90 depending on how many beers I smashed. Tiger is sharing the lead right now...if tiger don't play I don't watch.

Played since I was bout 7 (22 now) got burned out when I went and played in college. Haven't plate but once in the last year. I have to turn the radio off at work so they don't tell me everything so I can go home and watch it recorded. Still love watchin it. And unbelievable a 14 year old makes the weekend at the Masters, guarantee most would never believe it.
Gotta say though I'm wantin Tuger to catch Jacks record but if he don't win, I'd like to see Couples pull it off at 53.

I tried playing as a younger man. Then realized that any sport or job where the object is to see how FEW times you can hit something just wasn't going to be my thing. If the object is to Hit the ball LESS than anyone else then I'm a champion!! Fact being I sawed the head off my calaway driver and use the shaft to keep whiny catch dogs quiet on the truck. Does that say anything about my priorities? LOL
