well I had been watching hog sign close to the highway for a few days , every day I would come by there would be more sign , this area is a mile wide with a road on each side and 5 miles long with no crossing roads , I talked to several people with houses along the roads and got two places to park trucks a few miles appart and let out right on the highway with the idea that the hogs would run away from the highway , I also took a dog thats been around highways on a few hunts and never crossed them , I was thinking that the theory of less dogs would work and also didnt want to lose the whole pack in the highway, marvin brought taco and I had candy and brandon brought a dog , it took a while to get trucks dropped off and all of us get let out on the highway , we lead the dogs in about 400yrds , my candy dog was  dragging dow so I said let her go , they ran this hog in a giant circle and came right by us in the dark , we hit it with the hat lights and it was a good one , it was very wet and the dogs were 75 yds behind it , after it seen us he split for the river , we tried to keep up but it was thick and didnt know the area , they stayed .79 on the garmin forever , they bayed several times we just couldnt get there , we followed them for a couple of miles and got close , candy and taco at this point checked in , candy was cut on the front leg and limping a little , she headed back in and bayed for a minute and off again back the way we just came from , at this point we had found a trail that would help us to move faster , she ran him a few more miles , taco and brandons dog were done at this time and candy was the only one on him , about a mile out candy was bayed but no bark , as we got closer still nothing , Im getting really sick to my stomach at this point and really busten the brush to get there , I was thinking she got it , when I got there she was in a big briar thicket and at this point she was locked up and tired of the briars ripping threw her cut , I guess she been there long enought for her muscles to lock up because she couldnt walk , I wasnt shure what had happened , did she over heat or what , I picked her up and carried her to a open trail , once she started walking she loosened up a tad , the hog ran from 8pm to 1 am , and took the dogs on a 10 plus mile race , maybe more dogs would of been the ticket to get this one , anyway we walked back to the closest truck and called it , I cleaned candy up and a few staples and put her to bed , what a race we had
a pic of candy
