My wife has been hot to get a blue lacy for awhile and I am just curious...what is the difference between a lacy and a cat?
Also, who are some breeders on here that have "true" blue lacy's? Thanks in advance.

The main difference is it will most likely be harder to find a well bred working Lacy compared to a well bred working Catahoula.  That Lacy line of dogs went through a near extinction and then a trendy stage and barely survived to come out still a legitimate working line of dogs.  You can find good ones but it is harder then it really needs to be if your main goal is a working dog.   You will probably pay more for it as well.  As far as type of dog, they are both Cur dogs if you can find some good ones they will make good hog dog or cow dogs.  It will be far easier and cheaper to find good working Catahoulas though.  Just my 2 cents

Talk to lacyman, he just bred his male and female, i believe they are both registered and both blood trail, his male earned him a large whitetail on one of the ranches he tracked deer for. The female tracks and hog hunts, she is young but is doing pretty dang good for her age.....he may have what you are looking for.

Thanks fellas. I did a little searching and read up on them. They sound like they may be a little hard to handle for no more time then we have to spend with our dogs. If I still worked on ranches I'd try one but... Thanks for the advise.

There's several good breeders of using dogs Sean Cockrell is first to mind theres another guy around The Bend I have friends with dogs from both they are really good dogs but mainly for blood trailing and working cattle. Personal opinion is they don't make good dogs like a true cur or hound but I don't know sheep crap from cotton seed either.

You want a line that's been held true.....Jimmy a Brooks is the man to talk to. Old blood Lacy dogs.

If you want one to hog hunt ,get one from someone who hog hunts.
Old timer or not ,many have just bred dogs for decades. Do your homework. I would suggest the national Lacy dog association.
