I noticed a gyp of mine not hunting like she used to, seemed lazy after the first hog of the day. Anyhow i finally got a rain out and took her to the vet and sure enough she has lyme disease. The vet sent me back with a gamut of meds to give her to the tune of $280.  Anyhow have any of u had experience with lyme disease? How did it affect your dogs hunt and so forth?

We think my gyp might have it she quit eatting for a few days with her bowl over flowing in feed amd wouldnt touch or look at it! She is just now getting back on her feet and coming on strong now! Better watch it on ticks humans can get it! My dad has it from a little bitty tick that he looked over!

I know it can get real bad if not treated soon enough. I used to coon hunt with a old man that has it. He is pretty much wheel chair bound now. Severe nerve problems and dementia. Bad head aches and hearing problems also. Lyme disease is some real bad chit i reckon

Whats the symptoms of lyme in humans?

From what I know of it,....symptoms vary between people, but most suffer from flu like stuff. This stuff is not to be trifled with,....it can get you down for a long time if not diagnosed early. The bite site usually has a halo ring around it most folks say.

The last time i hunted, i pulled a total of 3 ticks off me, a month later i still had the bite marks, with what looked like a white circle around the bite spot and it itched for just as long. I still hav the marks. I havent felt no different than my "normal" self

I was told by the old man i was speaking of earlier that the ticks that carry lyme disease are dark colored with a white spot on them. I dont know what truth there is to that...

I got it last year and it felt like a knot between my shoulder blades and I couldn't turn my head like I had pulled a muscle and some blurred vision. I had a buddy convince me to go get tested since I had the tick bite with the halo and it was positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted fever. They gave me some meds and I was feeling better in a week.

Those r the exact symptoms that i hav had for the past few wks. Again, i just chalked it up to work related muscle strain. Guess i need to make an appointment with the doc. How long does it take for the problem to amplify in ill effects? Between va appoinments and flying, my vac n sic is gettn pulled down fast. Figure i could hold a mth or so?

I let mine go about 4 weeks until I got to the point I couldn't hardly get in and out of the truck. I went as soon as he said a guy he knows had the same symptom that I did and that is what he had. I really had no idea what was going on and never thought about the tick bite until then.
