We usually hunt from midnight to morning, bring an icechest full of cold water just for the dogs, let them wind from the ranger, and take them to water holes to get in and cool off in between runs. Try to keep them in shape and keep a close eye on them for signs of over heating. We also keep a couple of bottles of rubbing alchohol in the cut bag for emergencies.
But keeping them wet at all times seems to be a good prevention.

I think if he didn't care if they were dead he wouldn't be asking. How do you get your dog to hunt like that? Tell em to slow down and chill out. When we let our dogs out that's not a choice. You must have one of those fancy DC-60 collars with the loud speaker on it so you can tell em "Slow and steady boys and girls! Don't want ya'll to over heat!"
Are u joking or being a Smart butt ?

We hunted last Saturday day I live in south louisiana it's really hot and humid down here.. We got in the woods late as always.. So we had a late start around 7:30 and the dogs caught to sows we started to see a big difference in the way they hunted after about 9:30 and we hunted by boat we were surrounded by water the dogs were jumping in every shot they got needless to say the dogs and myself were pretty much done at 12:00 and that was pushing it.. I was wearing waders so I figured if I was hot as all get out so were the dogs with vest!! So simple easy solution.. Hunting at night down here is your only option.
