Anyone here planning to go this year?

I've been trying to go the last two years and something has come up.  This year I'm planning to make the trip no matter what just to check things out and see what its all about.  I've never been before...anyone have any pointers?  I have always heard some shady stories about the dogs for sale there and luckily I'm not in the market for anything thats eats.

I'm considering pulling my travel trailer for myself, a hunting buddy and our two boys to stay in.  I assume there will be plenty of space?  Anything else I should know or watch out for?

Thanks!

If you get in any trouble with the law... just ask for Danny Green. He's my first cousin and a Winn Parish Sheriff's deputy... tell him you know me and hopefully he can help you out! Grin

Been going for the last 9 years.  Don't bay any dogs but get to see a lot of friends from last year.
Lots to see under the trees and will be some good and bad deals so visit a lot and choose wisely.

See you there.

if you enjoy talking hog hunting you need to go i have been for the last 5 years,  i usually set up along the cable and sell a few young dogs.( the okie with the black cowboy hat and the hog tusk necklace)  its a great place to meet new people.  alot of venders and alot to see, i go down fri stay fri night look around sat. and hed home late sat.
if you ask every dog there is a #1 stike dog.lol, but it would be a pig in a poke.   although it is a good place to buy puppies. kinda like a hog hunters yard sale !

we need to keep track of who is going so we can put some faces together with the guys on the board.

the next best thing to hog hunting is talking about hog hunting.

Craig,

I think Mandi and I will be going.  I have not been, but would like to go at least once.

Might be a good time for me to pick up that running catch dog that you don't want to sell me Grin Heck, you don't have to sell her to me, just send her my way. We'll call it a "free lease" Grin

I think ole Craig needs to come show her work while hunting horse back so you know what you are getting.  Grin

Thanks for the replys.  After reading about it, I'm fired up and ready to go!

Maybe we can exchange some phone numbers before then and try to meet up for a little bit.  I would like to put some names to faces.  Only ones on here I think I have met personally are Matt and Douglas although I think I owned a cur dog for a short time that came from you as a pup, Craig.  I got her from a guy named Brent up around the Dallas area I think.

I was going to try and make the expo, but things aren't looking promising.

She was a good well mannered dog, just didn't hunt as deep as what I was looking for.  At the time I was looking for more of a go-yonder type dog.  She ended up with a couple (back in Oklahoma I think) and I believe they are tickled with her.

This sounds like fun.  Where does this take place?  I checked out their website and didn't see much other than dates and past winners.

Bump to the top.

Well we're a couple weeks closer.  I don't care a whole bunch for bay competitions, but I'm getting pretty fired up about spending the weekend checkiing things out and doing lots of "hog-dog" talking.

Anyone else making plans?

Thanks, Scott.

I have talked on the phone with Larry probably half a dozen times, but never met in person.  I'll have to stop by.  I like his motto on breeding dogs...breed 'em to go, and whoop 'em to whoa.  I've never had any of his stock, but I hear they are good rangy hunting dogs.
