Was going through my litter of pups (mt curr/plott) trying to figure out which one I wanted to keep and found one I really like the looks of and then I noticed he's got two dew claws on each back leg... anyone ever see that before? Should I get them removed?

My Hunter dog has double dew claws and has never had a problem with them. Just clip the nails every now and then.

I'll back that up. I had some mountain cur squirrel dogs years ago and those old time tree dog men would fight over a double dewclaw pup

Old timer told me one time that double claws means the dog wouldn't be aggressive or it wouldn't turn on you or something like that lol

That's a crazy occurance. Only breed I know that ALWAYS has double dews is the Great Pyrenese. Your pup is obviously not that, lol.

The Beauceron also has double dew claws. It is a breed sometimes mentioned in the ancestory of the Catahoula.
