Its getting hot here in Texas and I got a feeling it is gonna be a son of a gun before its all said and done and the humidy is already climbing big time with the rain . Yall be sure and watch your dogs close for heat exhaustion . Signs of this is excessive panting , tongue getting real wide and last but not least is when the tip of the tongue goes to curling up on the very tip are the end. When it starts to curl on the end you better get him are her cooled off in a hurry because they are not far off from being shocky and going down . Watch for wobbly back legs and back end and get them cooled down . Once your dog gets hot get him to water but don't just put his whole body in the water splash the water on him till he begins to cool down some let him drink but not gulp are gulps and I myself don't let my dog lay down much I will cool him down a little at a time with water on his body and keep him walking slowly some it helps them to cool off quicker and disapate the heat from their bodys .
Once a dog has a heat stroke are even some of them heat exhaustion it is a very very good chance they will never be the same when it comes to the heat . There has been a many many good and great dog ruined by the heat .

THD, Take care of yourself also, My father in law got heat sick a few years back and the heat tears him up now. This heat will kick your ass in the first part of summer. Some of us lucky ones work in a hot ass refinery with FRC clothing. I will tell what hot is......

Yeah that heat dont play and it will sneak up on you without you knowing it . You will be working sweating and seem fine then as soon as you back off it will hit you like a baseball bat . Yeah I worked in a smelter for a lot of years in August coolest place in there was like 110/115 degrees. I can take the heat pretty good but not near like I use to now that am 52 .

I have seen one dog fall out from heat. It was a night hunt and we had not got on a single hog just slowly roading them at about 3 to 5 mph. Dog never could handle heat after that. If it got over 70 she wouldn't hunt hardly at all.
Myself I have gotten to hot on multiple occasions working in rice and bean fields with a shovel in my hand. If u or I start getting a head ache it's time to stop and find a cool spot.
