My friend needs to protect his sheep from the coyotes. If you know where to find one or if there is a site where he can get one please let us know.

What exactley is he looking for?
I've heard Great Pyrenese are amazing at that.....I'd sure look into getting a pair of them if I were him, for when he can't keep watch...

Donkey?
Donkeys are alot cheaper than Great Pyrenees and do a good job once they take up with goats, sheep or cattle. I would'nt use a stud jack though, some will kill new borns.

A donkey is the way to go, just don't get 2, they have a tendency to go off doing donkey things when you put more than one in with other livestock. 1 will stay with your stock and beat a coyote to death.....that would be my pick if i needed protection for my stomck

There was an ad on Craigslist last week, I think it was 4 free donkeys in the Decatur area. I might have the mans number. PM if interested.

i have lost zero with a great pyrenees. i have a friend that lost pretty much every kid born to coyotes behind a donkey, they finally got a dog and no more problems. those dogs are pretty dang smart. i had a pen of young does and bought a mature doe and put in the same pen, when i would feed i noticed the mature doe running all the yearlings off the feed, about a week later i noticed the dog would tear into the mature doe and keep her off in the corner while the yearlings would eat.

Great pyrenees or anatolian guard dogs are best way to go. Snares, grease sponges, bait hooks are all good methods but a person must run traps every 1-2 days and know how to trap.
If you live in Llano there are plenty of local ranchers that have access to predator removal...ask around. There may be government trappers there as well. Lampasas county has two, burnet county one and neither are not much of a sheep and goat area any longer.
You can also find good knowledgable trappers for a small fee in your area...go to the local feed stores. A good Guard dogs will work much harder and better than a donkey.

My neighbor had Great Pyrenees. Occasionally he has pups. If that's the route you take. I can ask him if he has any

lol poison and broken glass in meat is not the way to go . first thing would happen if I tried that would be my dogs to get out and kill themselves . plenty of folks looking for places to set up and call and shoot varmits for the pleasure of it . might help to thin them out a little . I love it when the yotes hit my chickens , puts me in full predator killin mode and nothing is safe .
